Summer Shenanigans, Wednesday, July 21, 2021

Anakin was running slightly late this morning thanks to getting trapped in the ice cream shop, which meant that the ice cream supplies he'd picked up were slightly melted. It was okay! He would adapt and overcome!

Weren't you thrilled about his ingenuity? Weren't you?

"Welcome back to the light, everyone," Anakin said with a smile. "Today we're going to do something easy: an ice cream sundae relay! Working in teams, you will build a sundae using ice cream, chocolate sauce, whipped cream and a cherry. The fastest team to complete it wins!"

That seemed too easy.

"The first name I call from each team will be the being you make the sundae on!"

There, that was more like it.

"This is a joke, right?" asked the Anger Management teacher as he looked at his shirt.

"I dunno, you're kinda working it," Steve said, taking off his first shirt so he could put on his new one.

"Sure, I'm working it, but I'm also wearing an adorable ice cream."

This was a statement of fact, yes, Nick.

"We can find a sharpie and draw on some angry eyebrows?" Steve offered.

Nick stopped.

"Yeah. I Wanna do that."

Steve reached into one of the billion pockets of his cargo pants, looking for a pen. Knife, knife, mints...marker!

"Here," he said, holding it out.

"Thanks, man," Nick said, taking the Sharpie to scribble on some angry eyebrows. "What the hell, now it's even cuter!"

Steve tilted his head. "It really is," he admitted.

"The shirt isn't bad, at least," Stark said, pulling his on.

The activity he wasn't so sure of, yet. But at least he was still outside.

Sakaki looked a little conflicted as she held her t-shirt while processing the instructions, knowing all too well by now that, no, this wasn't a translation issue, she'd understood the words perfectly, it was just really bizarre, but at the same time, this place had been riddled with holes that sucked people into a deep dark cavern for weeks, so was flinging ice cream at a classmate to turn him into a human sundae really that unusual?

She was honestly just glad to not have to be the sundae. Ice cream and chocolate and whipped cream and sprinkles did not seem very sanitary when one had a bunch of cat scratch bandages everywhere...

Okay, but this t-shirt was kind of Astrid's favorite.

So help her, this was going to inspire a whole new set of postcards with adorablely screaming food on them, wasn't it?

Oh god, what if this lead to her actually have adorably screaming food around in a few days to inspire her more?

Don't tell her it wasn't possible around here.

Alara was just glad to wear something that wasn't just her gym clothes, after this morning's unexpected visit to the ice cream shop. So she didn't actually mind having to wear the t shirt today.

Troy and Faye, Anakin has given you very attractive tarps to sit on. The rest of your team is fifty yards away with a gallon carton of ice cream, a bottle of chocolate sauce, a container of spray cream, and a jar of bright red cherries.

So this was going to be a disaster.

Just before the chocolate sauce runners began Anakin yelled out a very helpful, "Those delivering the chocolate sauce cannot use their hands to squirt it!"

"I am going to make," Troy assured his team with the utmost confidence, as he assumed what he figured would be the most helpful sundae-building position, "the best Ice Cream Troy."

After all, hadn't Christmas Troy been the only good part of Christmas? They totally had this!

Sakaki wasn't sure if the fact that Troy actually seemed to be enjoy this made it better or just more weird. She definitely was sure that Mr. Eagle, at least, would not approve.

Still...

After considering how this might be done, she knew that she had a very good throwing arm, so she was just going to see about making little snowballs out of the ice cream and lobbing them toward the tarp with surprisingly good aim.

"Sorry!" she called out, each time one landed. "Sorry! I....I'm so sorry!"

Her hands, though, were starting to feel a little numb from the cold...

"I'm not that sorry!" Ben said gleefully, using the Force to dump his gallon of ice cream over Troy's head.

Being pelted by ice cream balls was one thing (although, damn, Sakaki, girl, that arm); having a significant amount more ice cream just unceremoniously dumped on his head was another. And that other thing was the first trendrils of regret and realization that being an Ice Cream Troy was not like being a Christmas Troy.

Still...

"...that's fair," he allowed, because this was what they were here for, and he took a moment to lick a little ice cream off his lips.

At least it was tastier than being a Christmas Troy, and none of the ice cream (so far!) smelled like Special Drink.

"This doesn't seem fair," Faye announced.

Which, you know, that was her life these days, but just to get it out there.

"It doesn't. But that's Anakin."

Because Anakin was the worst. But hey, Stark didn't have to sit still and let people turn him into dessert and he was going to cling to that little bit of positivity.

Good job Team Plain, Waffle, Pine!
