"Wine" Tasting and Drinking Games

Did Jessica completely forget about class today? Certainly not because there was a bottle of wine sitting on the bar when people came into Caritas and she was pouring everyone a glass.

"Tonight's selection is Night Train. It's a fruit wine that tastes..."

Hmm. Walked into that one. Jessica frowned and sipped at it.

"Like someone added corn syrup to Nyquil," she finished. "Please partake and decide for yourself."

"As for tonight's game we shall play two truths and a lie. You tell two truths about yourself and one lie. Those who choose the lie have to drink. Shall we?"

"Oh wow, so you like, planned it-planned it," Faye replied, clearly still incredulous. "Stark. You've been holding out on me!"

God, Stark, way to make her find you more attractive. Just what she needed. Goddammit.

"You never asked." Because 'have you ever robbed a space bank' was a totally normal question to ask someone.

"It was only the once. Well. Twice. But it was the same place because things went wrong the first time. It's not a habit."

"Okay, first rule of robberies is to never hit the same place twice," Faye told him, but it was almost affectionate. "You find a new place to rob if it goes wrong the first time."

Somewhere where things wouldn't go wrong! Because going twice meant they'd probably remember your face!

Especially when you only had half of a face!

"It was complicated." Everything was always complicated. "We had to go back. They had my friend." And that had maybe been Stark's fault, at least in part.

And Stark hadn't shown his face there until the second time, anyway!

"Did your friend get caught the first time?" Faye guessed, a little gentler in light of that. "I can understand that."

Though shame on his friend for getting caught.

"It was complicated," Stark said again. "Could have gone much better." Less death, for one thing. But all of their plans were always at least partial disasters. That was how the universe worked.

"But he's fine." Now, anyway. "Most of it worked out."

"I would like to hear this complicated story sometime," Faye replied. "Who doesn't love a heist?"

Not everyone went all heart-eyes over a heist, no, but Faye did.

"It's not entirely pleasant," Stark warned. What with the dying and the torture and the setting the ship on fire and all.

"But I could tell you. If you like. Sometime."

Faye's smile turned a little softer, and she reached over to lightly touch his arm.

"I still want to hear it," she assured him, shrugging a shoulder. "If you'd like to tell."
