Another year of Valentine's Day ridiculousness had Kathy back in the classroom sans glares at Dante. In fact, the glances she was shooting at him were downright soppy if she didn't catch herself in time and put on her professional 'teacher' face. "So last week, we had you do some research to come up with a cool ad campaign for various birth control options," she said. "Something that presented the information succinctly, but also made it interesting."

It was amazing what a well-timed trip, strawberries in all the best places, and a very large cake could accomplish. (And flowers. Lots of flowers.)

"So, today you're up," Dante said, grinning. "And no, we won't mind if you turn it into a 'fuck, why don't dudes have this shit' anti-commercial either."

ALSO LOVE, DANTE. LOVE AND APPRECIATION. C'MON NOW.

"The answer is, as per usual, systemic inequities in the medical industry," Kathy said cheerfully - the kind of cheer that you developed after an entire lifetime of seeing the wrong end of that inequity. "So get out your information and let's get going." She pointed at a student at random. "Congrats! You're up."

Had Illyana drawn out oversize pictures of the various types of birth control wearing smiley faces like cartoon characters? That she could tape up on the wall behind her for people to see? Absolutely.

...that was about as academic as this presentation was going to get. Sorry-not-sorry, Miss Kathy.

"Birth control on this planet is, to be blunt; juvenile, punitive, and childish," Illyana said, her accent slipping back towards her native Russian in her annoyance. "These posters are about as much promotion as they deserve, as it is as accurate as they are inefficient."

"For those who actually want reliable contraception, without side-effects, I propose a visit to your local sorcerer." Note how she did not say friendly local sorcerer. This was a presentation on facts.

Illyana tugged on a black leather cord around her neck, pulling a red pendant out from where it had been tucked under her shirt. "You will want to speak with your local magic practitioner about your compatibility with their brand of spellwork, but options include potions, physical charms, and deeper magics," she continued, flicking the gem, which glowed briefly. "Not all types of magic work for everyone, of course, if you're from a world where magic doesn't work then your charm may fail upon your return to your native plane of existance. Prices may vary, from a bottle of vodka to your first born child. Side effects include not potentially falling prey to 'medical' neglience, though you should always vet your sorcerer before making any decisions."

"Those interested should see me after class. Thank you." With that, Yana gave a sweeping bow and returned to her seat.

"Well, I think we all learned something today," Dante called, grinning, and giving her some hearty applause. "Go see Illyana about birth control. Fuck the system!"

"I take payment in vodka, not babies," Yana clarified, plopping back down into her seat. "Just in case anyone was wondering."

Look at them. It's obvious that at least one of them is going to grade on over-the-topness.

And the other one is Kathy, sigh.

Yeah, Dante was leaning against that desk with a grin a mile wide.

(You know what also worked well on Kathy? Chocolate.)
