The Library is open [4/10]

The Library is open.

Parker is busy shelving, listening to the weekend's radio podcasts on her I-Pod. Every once in a while she stops to say, "What?"

She's really too busy to help you, but the library is open for all your research needs.

[ooc: Mun is here for half an hour, to start play, but won't be back 'til at least 11EST after 2pm. Keep it in mind. SP okay]

Someone has no idea how the Dewey Decimal system works.

Angela wanders into the library sipping on something that might smell like hot chocolate. She tosses an absent "Hi" to Parker before going to work sorting through the periodicals.

Parker waves to her, and frowns at the books. Damnit. The former Librarian as smoking monkey crack.

"Need help over there?" Angela called, absent-mindedly.

[OOC: Pick this up or drop it, up to you. I'm not likely to be on very late tonight.]

"Thanks, I got it covered." Parker shook her head. "Damn, the things you miss when you go out of town..."

"Like what?" Angela asked, interested ~~but please don't tell her about Cam and Jaye because he tells her that over lunch.~~

"Constable Fraser doing the Friday broadcast, for one." Parker grinned. "And he miiiiiissed us. He was hoping we'd come back."

"Awwwwww," Angela said. "It has been way too long since he visited the library."

"It has! He needs to come by soon." Parker bit her lip. "How much trouble would it be for you guys, if I stopped being a Library Aide at the end of this semester?"

"It's not a big deal for me," Angela said. "But I have no idea what I'm doing next year, anyhow. I get that it's a lot of work."

"Did you tell Mr. Wagner?"

"Working my way up to it. Hopefully I can catch him soon and let him know." Parker sighed. "I've loved working in the library, but I think I need a change. Maybe TA for one of the teachers next fall."

"Change is good," Angela agreed. "And ... yeah, like I said, I have no idea. I can't think that far ahead." She lowered her voice. "I might go back to Pittsburgh, even, if Marty can't come back here."

"Aww, no! We'd miss you." Parker scowled, then sighed. "I hope he comes back soon, so that's not an option. It wouldn't be the same without you."

"Thanks," Angela said, then sighed, herself. "He probably will. I'm just being paranoid. As usual."

[OOC: She'll be back whatever happens -- the thought is IC.]

Parker grinned. "More than likely."

Amanda Desmesnes is working on sequel to Pearl Blade? Cool.

Angela has discovered that someone has been stealing all of the pages with sex tips from all of the issues of Cosmopolitan.

This wouldn't be a problem, except it means each issue now consists of a scarce dozen pages.

"Hey, Angela?" Sam asked, walking into the library, "Is there a video archives of past White House press conferences?"

Angela tilted her head to one side. "Possibly," she said. "We don't get much call for A/V stuff, but I know we have some archives. Let me see what I can find."

She tapped away at the computer. "So how are you?"

[OOC: I think anything with CJ or Josh would be in Special Collections, but she can find anything else.]

"Pretty good," Sam said, leaning on the counter. "I survived Saturday and everything. What about you? Have a good weekend?"

[OOC: Darn. Okay, will have to figure out a way into S/C, both IC and OOC, then. *g* Just a small delay.]

Angela nodded. "I went to Delaware and Maine with Parker and people. It was interesting, though kind of heavy. Especially for her."

"You had detention, right? How was that?"

Finishing the search, she ran her finger down the screen. "Okay, we have stuff from this world -- the Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush conferences -- back to 1984 in the main collection, and it looks like we might have some older stuff in storage. Anything from other worlds is in special collections, and you need a note for that."

[OOC: Sorry, we just need to make sure players know their characters are being investigated.]

"Heavy?" Sam asked, "How so? What happened?"

Sam groaned and slammed her head into the circulation desk. "Oh, Angela, it was horrible. There were preschoolers. She looked up and began gesticulating wildly. "I was threatened with death at least three times, had a live piranha thrown at me, John got turned into a dog...but Angel was surprisingly good with them."

"A note, huh?" Sam wondered who she could talk into providing her with one.

[ooc: NP, and completely understandable, but the player involved already knows.]

Angela shrugged briefly. "Just ... stuff from Parker's past. It's kind of not mine to talk about, you know?"

She blinked. "Death and piranhas? From little kids? Very, very strange."

"And yeah, a note." She lowered her voice. "It can really be from any teacher. Or if MacGyver had just happened to leave one for you before he left town...."

[OOC: Understood. Sorry for the delay. Could you get the player involved to email the library staff?]

"Ah," Sam nodded. She understood Parker not wanting everyone to know everything about her life. If the other girl wanted her to know, she'd tell her. "You're a good friend to keep things quiet," she acknowledged. "A lot of people wouldn't be able to wait to get things on the radio."

"You have no idea," she shook her head, and put it into her hands. "It was hell. I blame Professor Lyman," she said, completely forgetting that she'd been the one to fall asleep in class in the first place.

"No, it's okay, Angela," Sam said after a minute. "I think I know someone I can ask. It shouldn't be a problem."

[ooc: NP. I'll talk to him/her tonight.]

"I'm either a good friend, or still a little scared of her," Angela said with a slight grin. "And, sounds good. See you when you have the pass."

Sam waved. "Okay if I see what's not in Special Collections? There may be something I'm looking for there."

"Sure," Angela said.

She set Sam up in an A/V booth with a collection of labeled DVDs, a small TV, and headsets. "Let me know if you need anything else."

"I will, thanks," she said, sitting down and putting the headset on.

Saturday night's Podcast. Yeah, John's lost it.

The library is closed so the aides can eat their lunch in peace.

Far too many books to shelve. Gah.

Sunday night's broadcast, since Parker was zonked out. Hunh. Jaye's lost it too? Jaye and Cameron broke up?

He hasn't been in the library for a while, so it probably would be a good idea to catch up on some reading. Yeah, he's got great timing.

Parker blinks at Cam. Wow, talk about timing. "Hey, Cam. Need any help?" She pulls the headphones out, then says, "You and Jaye broke up?"

"Uh yeah," Cameron frowned. "Not that I don't need help with that."

"Damn. I'm sorry. What do you need?"

[going away, won't be back today-- SP 'til tomorrow?]

He shrugged. "Just doing some research for Tactics of War before class, I probably can find it myself."

"Okay. We'll talk when I have a second, if you want." Parker went back to the podcast and the shelving, shaking her head.

Parker's just spinning on the spinny chairs now, and contemplating various things that would turn Jarod's hair white.
