Creature Languages, 4/10, Period 4

There is a rather interesting creature [OOC: The little one, not Kermie!] perched on a parrot lobster stand at the front of class today.

Dream nodded toward him as he passed out vocabulary sheets. "Hello. I enjoyed watching you work on the Lobster folk dance on Thursday. Today, we are going to learn Lobster in more depth. Our guest lecturer is Polly, who was "raised from a fingerling" on a pirate ship."

"Review your vocabulary sheets, then ask Polly questions at will."

//He was a cook and the finest sailor I ever met.// Polly squawked again and nibbled on the cracker some more.

//What did he cook?//

Polly blinked at Pippi. //Food. What do I care? Most of it wasn't for me.// "Give me a cracker."

//Good point.// she said and then tilted her head. //I did give you a cracker.//

"Then give me another cracker."

Pippi only had Animal Crackers at this point. She opened the box and held it out to Polly by the little handle.

//We learned a lobster dance the other day, it was fun. Do lobsters dance for fun or does it serve some other function?//

Polly took the box and hung it on his hook before reaching in and pulling out a cracker.

//Fun, social bonding, communication. The usual.// "Pieces of eight!"

//Would you show us a dance?//

Re: Talk to Polly

Polly looked down at his hook. //I don't dance anymore. Too embarrassing.// "Squawk!"

Pippi is dissapointed.

//I understand.//

She thought for a moment.

//Do you sing?//

//Can't be a pir- sailor and not sing.// Polly looked into the box of Animal Crackers. Empty. "Give me a cracker."

//That's true. All pir-sailors can sing.// Pippi grinned.

She opened up her last box and held up a bear.

//Sing me a song.//

//No.// "Give me a cracker. Squawk!"

Re: Talk to Polly

[identity profile] strongestgirl.livejournal.com 2006-04-10 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Pippi ate the bear.

//Okay then, I'll give you the rest of this box if you tell us how to say some interesting words that we don't have on our list.//

Polly eyed Pippi and the box of Animal Crackers.

//Keelhaul. Swab the deck. Booty. Doubloons. Wench. Rum. Pegleg.// He does not translate them into English.

"Give me a cracker."

Pippi hands him a camel.

Re: Talk to Polly

[identity profile] fh-anonymous.livejournal.com 2006-04-10 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Polly snatched the camel cookie. //Stingy.// "There. That's another word that isn't on your list. Squawk!"

Pippi laughed and handed over the box.

//Yes that's true. Here you go. Thank you!//

//Thank you, little girl.// Polly took the box with another squawk. "Pieces of eight! Pieces of eight!"
