Booker leaned against his desk and greeted his students with, "A hundred years ago, if you wanted to disappear, you moved across the country, changed your name, and boom, you're done. But even then, that was dicey. You had documentation you were expected to have. With the railroads and steam ships, the world was a lot smaller than it used to be. You could be found. So maybe you move further. Maybe you move to Australia. The point is, you could get away. Now? It would be a nightmare." Purely hypothetically. "Cameras everywhere, photo IDs with technology that makes them difficult to tamper or replicate. Most of you are probably carrying a tracking device in your pocket right now. But we're gonna talk about how to do it.

"Standard disclaimer, nothing you learn in this class is meant to be used for illegal purposes blah blah this is all just a big creative thinking exercise, right, guys? Anyway. Let's go around the room, and everybody introduce yourself and tell me what you would take with you if you had to go into hiding tomorrow."

"Illyana Rasputin. I might take one nondescript item of sentimental value, like a favorite book, but then you leave everything else," Illyana said, with a matter-of-fact tone.

She'd pretty much done exactly that, after all, when she'd walked out of the mansion with nothing but a full backpack and a hundred dollars stolen from Xavier's wallet, and proceeded to get all the way out west without anyone finding her. And when she had been found, it wasn't because anyone had been looking for 'Illyana Rasputin.'

Julius was trying not to think about how he'd been kicked out of the Mountain with only the clothes on his back - literally, he hadn't even had shoes.

"If it were now, I'd probably keep my phone," he said. "It's a blend of magic and 2090s tech that I don't think most people could crack." Except maybe the folks here on the island. "If I'm back home...I can't really think of anything beyond some money. But I'd have to get a different, burner phone too, because using actual paper money is more noticeable than not, unless you're dealing with illegal places that don't wanna be traced."

And he didn't know how to even start finding those places.

Also, being a dragon did help with some of it. Assuming he had (sigh) access to his natural form.

"I'm Arabella Baylor, and I'd take my family with me." She paused and then said, "I mean, I'd have to go get them, but whatever I'm disappearing for probably involves them, too." And probably their evil grandma.

Then again, it might be the government looking for her specifically, although not now that she was a Prime. Hmm. "If I can't take my family for some reason, then as much cash as I can get my hands on, camping gear so I can lay low outside of civilization for a while, and a photo of my family."

Who is here! And probably only a little drunk.

We made it to Friday, guys.

Wednesday was a whole fucking week by itself.
