Creative Writing- Monday- 1st period

So, uh. Nick really had the first class of the first day, huh. You really had to go and do that to him, school?

But he tried. He wore a tie. He got there early. He wrote his name on the board and underlined it for no discernible reason. (Emphasis.)

"Welcome to Creative Writing," Nick greeted them. "Where you will learn to write. Creatively."

And then he immediately buckled under the pressure.

"You know what's good? Introductions are good. Let's do those. Who are you?" Nick said, feeling like he had a great idea here. Just wait until he realized that took up like five minutes of class time, max.

And about halfway through the second student saying their name, Nick realized he had to come up with more. Unfortunately that meant going with the first thing that came to mind.

"For your first assignment... write me what you'd be like if you were a toad."

Nick, why was that the first thing that came to mind.

"And if you all finish really fast you get to read them in front of the class!"

Okay that was actually brilliant stalling.

Okay. That was a different assignment. Or at least for a writing class.

"Do you need it to be a certain length?" he asked as he started putting together an outline for the assignment.

"Don't care! Long as it has words in it."

Please make it long.

"Is there a specific toad you want us to be?" Miles asked.

"Gonna be honest, I don't know the names of types of toads," Nick admitted.

"Well there's the Canadian toad, the American toad, the great plains toad, the Colorado River toad, the-"

"No one needs to know this information," Nick said. "Not even toad scientists."

"If they were toad scientists wouldn't they need to know this information?" Miles asked feeling rather confused at the moment. "Because... toads?"

"No. I'm pretty sure of that."

He based this on nothing.

Miles was now having a flashback to a certain burger breakfast with Peter right now.

Rather than question the logic, Miles just worked on his paper.

Tahani's hand was up immediately. "I don't want to be a toad."

"You're a toad though," Nick said.

"But no," Tahani said.

"It's make believe with words!" Nick told her.

"Toads are not cute," Tahani countered.

"Who cares? Write your feelings about how much it sucks," Nick said.

Tahani was going to write the epic tale of Tahani, Who Never Turned Into a Toad Because Reasons, just you wait, Nick.

Tahani rolled her eyes and huffed, then picked up a pen that cost just too, too much money for a pen and began writing.

"You could be a pretty toad?" Miles offered lamely.

"Have you ever seen a pretty toad?" Tahani asked.

"Uh..."

Miles took half a second to pull out his phone and google "pretty toad".

"You could be this one. It has a crown and everything."

Tahani looked deeply dubious. "Perhaps."

"If I were always a toad?" Belle asked. "Or if I were turned into a toad through some sort of magic?"

Did she shoot Five a pointed look when asking about magic? Absolutely.

"Which is more interesting for you?"

Aka, which would keep you busier?

"The latter seems more interesting," Belle said. Obviously. "There's change to talk about. If I were always a toad I don't know that I'd have much to say."
