Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were plenty of chairs and tables by the bonfire, and some further out on the lawn for anyone who might want to enjoy their food alone, or just gaze at the new folks and try to figure them out. All of these potential activities were valid!

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Illyana's head snapped-up at the distinctive sound of air being displaced in a manner that indicated someone had just yeeted their mass out of one section of space and time and into another, and forced the universe to Deal With It and compensate.

It was barely a split second later when she neatly dropped out of a 'disk next to him to make a sandwich of her own. "They keep telling me I do not need to eat it all at once," she said, making a sandwich to rival his. "They do not understand the metabolism."

Five eyed her for a moment, clearly sizing her up for a fight. You know. Just in case.

"Then they don't know how much energy it can burn."

Yes, she could tell he was sizing her up. No, Illyana did not care, and paid it no mind.

That fight would go very, very badly for everyone around them. Though they might have fun.

She started piling layers of cheeses and meat on her bread. "Our existence deforms the universe. I can worry about the physics behind why I need the calories and expend more energy, or I can eat. I usually just eat, and thankfully the food is unending and usually at least edible."

Retro Russian pop? They could probably rock a t.A.T.u song.

"The food? Here. The picnics, they do not care how much you eat or steal to eat later," she answered. "And the school cafeteria? Could be worse. Could be better, it is not New York, but could be worse and they let you eat as much as you want."

"My abilities do not include cooking. Stealing food, yes. Making it...no. That is not part of my Gifted nature."

"Similar to yours, I think," she replied, taking a moment to size him up. Turn about was fair play, after all. "Skipping stones through time-and-space, yes?"

"My Gift is teleportation." Her training was magical and martial.

Yeah, yeah, That was all of them. Well, not the magic. Because magic was dumb and not real.

"More like... diving through water."

"Very strange waters you dive in," she replied wryly. "Lots of currents to get pulled under by, if you aren't careful."

"Illyana, by the way." She went back to adding more toppings to her sandwhich. "Illyana Rasputin. What's your name, new swimmer?"

"Number Five Hargreeves," he replied, considering her words carefully. It was really only when he pushed into temporal travel that the currents became destructive.

Though he'd figure it out. He had to to keep his dumb siblings alive.

“You’re numbered?” she asked, looking faintly wary. “That’s not some mutant registration thing, is it?”

He wrinkled his nose in annoyance at that. "It's my name. My father wasn't exactly creative with any of us."

And he hadn't felt the need to come up with a 'normal' one as a kid.

"Huh. Just checking. My government isn't super fond of gifted individuals," she said with a shrug. "Do you prefer Five, or Hargreeves?"

Or she could just keep calling him 'swimmer.' Illyana wasn't fussed.
