Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Whatever aspect of the island made sure the weather was nice on picnic day didn't seem to be able to control the temperature. It wasn't freezing, but it would definitely more comfortable out on the lawn with a coat on. Thankfully, the conditions were just right for a bonfire in the center of the lawn, so people could gather and stay warm once they'd made their introductions.

Once the tables and chairs were set up and everything was properly glittered, all that was needed were people!

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

And Miles was there! Holding up a sign that said “Lydia” much like he was a limo driver at an airport. He also had a gift basket on his arm as he intended to be the best big sibling ever.

Well, that was sort of...nice. Lydia was trying to view all of this as nice, rather than intensely, aggressively friendly.

It was all just mindset - that's what Barbara would tell her.

"Miles?" she asked hesitantly. It seemed almost guaranteed that she had the right guy, unless there was another Lydia around here somewhere. Which meant that the gift basket was probably for her, and again we were back to people were so friendly here.

“That’s me!” He replied cheerfully. “Welcome to Fandom. I’m sure you’ve realized by now our school is a bit... different. I know it can be a weird adjustment. I went through the same process last semester. So as your officially appointed big sibling, I’m here to make sure everything goes as smooth as possible for you.”

Lydia couldn't help but smile, even if it was small and a little hesitant. "Yeah, this seems...pretty different from what I expected," she noted mildly, looking around. "But fortunately I'm kind of used to...weird. Nice to meet you, Miles."

It really was. This was kind of a lot of people - a lot of everything - for Lydia, but at least it was a pleasant kind of overwhelming.

“Oh if you are used to weird then it’ll probably be an easier transition for you,” Miles said earnestly. “Unless your weird is like... You eat spaghetti with chili.”

"I mean, that's actually weird," Lydia told him seriously. "I'm weird like...I know ghosts? Is that weird for here?"

She actually had not met anyone else who was even aware of the recently deceased, so far, but she kind of bet that a lot of people around here would be able to see the strange and unusual.

“Seeing ghosts? That’s not too weird for here. Which is actually kind of normal. Even I’m weird in my own way,” Miles replied. “Which is my way of saying you’ll probably fit in fine around here. Look, there’s going to be a lot of strange things you are going to hear about or see today. Very little of it will harm you. If it gets to be too much? Come see me and we can talk. That’s what I’m here for.”

And then he blinked in realization. “Wait! I forgot.”

And yes that would be the gift basket full of sweets from J’GOB and a gift card to the Perk. “This might help too.”
