School Assembly, Wednesday Afternoon, September 22, 2020

The chairs were in place, the auditorium was clean, bright, and entirely unarmed, and it was time for yet another exciting installment of "Things the Moose Thought Were Good For Human Children to Learn About."

Anakin climbed up to the rostrum, note card in hand. "Today we have another of our local businesspeople here to talk with you," he began. "Alluka Zoldyck, who is the owner of Pixie Dust, one of the clothing shops in town. She is also an alumnae of this school, and still lives here!"

Which was either a good thing or very odd, depending. Anakin thought it was fine, but he'd been here for 15 years, so his judgment was seriously suspect.

"She will be doing a talk on," he looked down and read from the card, "Street Fashion - Literally!"

So that sounded vaguely ominous.

"I'm sure we'll all learn a lot," he added.

Astrid was maybe more than a little amused by this, and she was more than happy to help, already getting some ideas as she picked through a few things and started to get a few ideas and directions of where she, an true Style Guru in her worn jeans, Fred Segal shirt, and thrift store shit-kicker boots (hey, apparently, the '90s were coming back, right?), could direct people to go, in an activity that had once given her the prestigious honor of spending a night in the station's holding cell, once upon a time.

"I'm afraid I'll have to bow to your expertise for this event," Elli said, coming up to Astrid with a soft laugh.

"I don't recommend etching anything," Astrid said with a faint grin, since that was what sort of got her in trouble the first time, "but I like the look of these paints. I would think the wood could have potential, but I'm worried that the woodchucks'll just get to anything we try to do with that. I think....it'll depend on where we go to decorate, and we can sort of base what we do on that particular location."

"You're right that the woodchucks might make things difficult," Elli admitted, looking at all the options with wide eyes. "And where—oh, I suppose that is the first choice, isn't it? A shop or a street would be fun… though there's also the park, which might not get as much attention…"

"I wonder if the weather will hold until this weekend," Astrid mused, though she was pretty sure, because it was Fandom and this was a Thing, it definitely would. "Maybe we could do something like decorating the trees in the park with streamers and ribbons and making the place look ready for fall with autumn and harvest kinds of decorations.

"We can't paint the playground equipment really bright and colorful, too. I don't think a lot of little siblings and kids show up for parents weekend, but it could be fun, anyway."

The island was very… convenient… like that, it was true.

"Oh, that would be lovely! We could use braided rope on the swing sets—that would look pretty and might actually add grip, rather than detract, should anyone use the playsets."

Because it would be a terrible thing if anyone got hurt because of decorations.

"Do you think we could find lanterns in the pile?" Elli asked. "We could plant small lights at the base of trees to illuminate the decorations in the dark too."
