School Assembly, Wednesday Afternoon, September 22, 2020
The chairs were in place, the auditorium was clean, bright, and entirely unarmed, and it was time for yet another exciting installment of "Things the Moose Thought Were Good For Human Children to Learn About."
Anakin climbed up to the rostrum, note card in hand. "Today we have another of our local businesspeople here to talk with you," he began. "Alluka Zoldyck, who is the owner of Pixie Dust, one of the clothing shops in town. She is also an alumnae of this school, and still lives here!"
Which was either a good thing or very odd, depending. Anakin thought it was fine, but he'd been here for 15 years, so his judgment was seriously suspect.
"She will be doing a talk on," he looked down and read from the card, "Street Fashion - Literally!"
So that sounded vaguely ominous.
"I'm sure we'll all learn a lot," he added.

Arrive and Mingle
Re: Arrive and Mingle
Still, she was showing up a little early and looking around to see what there was to see and how many people showed up to this sort of event…

Nakia, apparently, had a "thing" and couldn't make it. Shuri was telling her not to refer to her brother as a thing.
Re: Arrive and Mingle
But since she hadn't done that yet she could show up to the assembly.

"Hey," Nina said softly. "You, like, okay?????"

Re: Arrive and Mingle
"I hope you sleep better tonight," she finally said, allowing the lie since she didn't know him well enough to pry.
At least to his face.
"I'm, like, okay????? Kind of wondering what we'll be doing today--this is the first one I've managed to show up to......"

"I see," she said, after turning that over in her mind and deciding that was almost definitely a gentlemanly sort of go away rather than an actual attempt at conversation.
"Cool," she said, giving up. Fine. He wanted to brood in peace. It was strange to brood in public but, like, maybe that was how they did it in his world. "Assembly's starting soon so I'll talk to you some other time."

"That sounds like a pretty interesting assembly," Nina admitted. "Do you think this one being more normal would be better or worse??????"

She wasn't going to suggest a trip to the mainland, though, since Nina actually paid attention to the news off the island and... no, thanks. Rather not.
Yay, Our Speaker!
The... Lecture...?
Given that she looked like she was maybe ten or eleven at the oldest, she probably seemed pretty small to the rest of them too.
Still, her outfit was really pretty and she knew what she was talking about, so when it was her turn to talk, Alluka beamed, bouncing a little on her toes, and gave everyone a little wave.
"Hi, everyone!" she said brightly. "Like he said, I'm Alluka! I, I don't know that we'll be learning a whole bunch today but I hope everyone has fun anyway!"
Learning could be fun but fun wasn't always learning.
"So, um, this weekend is a pretty big deal and while we might not all have visitors coming to the island," and given what had happened the last time her Dad had encountered her Papa… Alluka didn't want that sort of visitor either, she got it, "but we all live here. Some of us might not live here for long but while you're here, this is what you're used waking up to."
Whether or not that was a good thing, Alluka would leave up to you.
"But that doesn't mean things don't need a bit of a touch up! And it's nice to spruce things up and change things up while you're the one in control instead of at the island's whim! So today we're going to be decorating the whole island!"
She clapped her hands sharply, once, twice, and then one more time. Supplies appeared as if from nowhere. There were cleaning supplies and things to repair broken bits and bobs that happened—a screen that needed patching, a hinge that needed tightening—and then…
And then there were the decorations. Absolute miles of decorations were all neatly stacked and organized, everything from spray paint to long ribbons to blocks of stone. Anything someone could imagine would be in the piles, ready for them to work with.
"My sister and I have prepared everything you might need," and then some, "and for anyone concerned about permanent changes, please be assured—anything you fix, like a broken screen, will stay fixed. But the decorations will last just past the weekend before they disappear!"
Nanika was so tired. It had taken them ages to figure out how to swing that.
"So I'm going to appoint some Style Gurus, who'll be able to point you in the right direction if you need help with ideas on how and where to decorate! Our Style Gurus for today are: myself, Miles, Astrid, and Tahani!
"Remember, the whole island is your canvas—so have fun with it! If you have any questions, feel free to ask!"
She clapped her hands together again, this time just out of delight.
"Let's go!"
Questions! And maybe answers!
ALL THE SUPPLIES! Also brainstorming!
Feel free to rummage at will!
Or bother the voluntolds for ideas because, oh man, there's enough here to inspire anyone! Conspire with each other to make the island so ~fancy~ for Parents Weekend. Or draw dicks on the walls.
LBR it's probably some combination of both.

"We can't paint the playground equipment really bright and colorful, too. I don't think a lot of little siblings and kids show up for parents weekend, but it could be fun, anyway."
Re: ALL THE SUPPLIES! Also brainstorming!
"Oh, that would be lovely! We could use braided rope on the swing sets—that would look pretty and might actually add grip, rather than detract, should anyone use the playsets."
Because it would be a terrible thing if anyone got hurt because of decorations.
"Do you think we could find lanterns in the pile?" Elli asked. "We could plant small lights at the base of trees to illuminate the decorations in the dark too."
Re: ALL THE SUPPLIES! Also brainstorming!
Luckily, rummaging around netted her… rather more than even she'd be able to use.
Perfect!

"Exterior design isn't my forte," she was musing aloud, "but I do know how to garden. Flowers make everything look cheery."

Around the Town!
Just keep in mind that if a PC-owned business you want to decorate isn't opted-in over here, you'll need to check with the player who owns it to see if they're cool with decorating their place!
The Rooftops
And she definitely had her sights on doing a bit with the lighthouse, as well.
