The auditorium looked like a regular auditorium, the chairs were arranged in a normal way and Anakin was pretty sure that the chance of teddy bear maiming was extremely minimal this week! He climbed up onto the stage and strode to the rostrum. "Hello again, students, and welcome to our third week of extremely productive and life-enriching talks. This week's is brought to you by two of our esteemed business leaders from town--Beau Lionett & Yasha Nydoorin--and they are hear to discuss with you--"

He reached for the cue card the office had provided, "--Using Your Destructive Tendencies for Fun and Profit! Wait."

Too late, Anakin, here come the speakers now!

Wei Wuxian took notes. Now that he'd burned all bridges back home, he was planning to become a rogue cultivator, like his parents.

Wei Wuxian raised his hand. He wore long, black and red robes, and had a flute stuck in his belt. "How do you get paid for it?" He'd never had the chance to ask his parents how they financed their life. He'd just known they fought monsters. "If someone asks for help, you can't just demand for them to pay up front, can you?"

Beau scratched at her ear, vaguely distracted by her thoughts for a moment.

"I mean, we've done a couple of jobs where we got like half up front as kind of a cash advance for supplies and shit? Probably depends on who hired you, though. And what the job is, 'cause --" she rolled her eyes -- "I guess people don't want to pay up front when you might get killed on the job they hired you for."

Honestly.

"But that's ... okay, we've gotten paid to rescue people," she added. "Which is actually more satisfying than I thought it would be? Not sure what we'd do if we just straight up ran into people who needed help, though. It hasn't really come up, so we don't have like a group policy on that yet."

Except for that one time with Kiri, but that had been pretty much all Jester's doing.

Sorry about the slightly smug look on Beau's face at the censorship there, Eleanor. Well. The narrative is sorry, at least.

"Yeah, 'cause like, wizards, man," Beau said. "They're like super squishy and spend way too much time with books, but they will fuck you up. Advantages to having a group, I'm just saying."

"Useful skill to have. Lock picking too," Beau replied, but she actually got a little bit serious as she crossed her arms.

"That said, I'm gonna tell you what I told our rogue. What you do on your off time is your business, but if that reflects on the group, or f --" Ugh, she really didn't want to give Anakin reason to try to bleep her. "Messes things up for them on the job, then ... definitely not okay."

That was a way tame version of what she'd actually told Nott but hey, the point stood!

Yes, Illyana was the apprentice to an Earth's Sorcerer Supreme. However, if for some reason that didn't work out, well, there were hundreds of thousands of terrible people who needed their day/week/year/lifetime ruined, and Illyana was well-suited to that sort of task.
