The auditorium looked like a regular auditorium, the chairs were arranged in a normal way and Anakin was pretty sure that the chance of teddy bear maiming was extremely minimal this week! He climbed up onto the stage and strode to the rostrum. "Hello again, students, and welcome to our third week of extremely productive and life-enriching talks. This week's is brought to you by two of our esteemed business leaders from town--Beau Lionett & Yasha Nydoorin--and they are hear to discuss with you--"

He reached for the cue card the office had provided, "--Using Your Destructive Tendencies for Fun and Profit! Wait."

Too late, Anakin, here come the speakers now!

Honestly, at this point, Troy was just here for the entertainment. He thought assemblies where he wasn't actively being praised for his athletic prowess and popularity would kind of suck, but he had so far been proven very wrong, and he was so totally down with it.

Troy met that wave with a lift of his chin.

"S'up, Wei Wuxian," and man he hoped he got that right! It had been a hot minute!, "how's it going?"

"Arabella's pretty cool," Troy said with a grin, "plus a legit straight-up hottie, and our room is pretty much a blanket fort," well, not really quite yet, but it was so gonna be!, "soooo, yeah. I'd say so.

"What about you?" he asked. "Who'd you get?"

"Eleanor," Wei Wuxian said. "Also a legit snack 'hottie'." If he was using that word right. "She's pretty awesome. She's messy, but being messy is not so bad. I don't know what my brother was always complaining about. She introduced me to tequila, but that's not as good as the Emperor's Smile back home."

He definitely was.

"Man," Troy groaned a little. "I almost made out with her in class last week."

He went for ice cream instead.

There were regrets!

And that regret was showing on his face and the disappointed (in himself) wag of his head, and the sigh that might have been heavier if that whole three-minute-date with Alexis hadn't gone so well and for the fact that he was pretty sure those opportunities weren't entirely exhausted.

"Also, it's weird, right? That you can get a drink at the bar here, and, like, no one cares? But what's Emperor's Smile? Is that like No-No Juice?"

Sketchbook in her lap, pencil behind her ear, Astrid settled in for another one of these, ready for either inspiration to strike, or for....well, chances were there was no preparing for what might be thrown out from week to week, so she was trying to at least be ready to go with...anything.

And maybe record it sketches for posterity.

"Hey, Miles," Astrid glanced over to him with a small smile. "Nothing quite yet, just trying to get a feel for what we're in for today before deciding how to try and capture it, I guess. How's it going?"

"All right, I guess," Miles said looking at the stage. "I don't see an obstacle course or giant teddy bears so I'm hoping today will be somewhat normal. Oh! And I started work on my wall yesterday. Thanks for the idea on that."

Astrid was glad that he'd added the second part so she didn't have to break it to him that this assembly being normal would be the least normal thing they could ask for.

And she shook her head at the thanks. "More walls around here need painting, anyway," she said. "What are you doing? Or should I just come by and see for myself?"

"Feel free to stop by anytime you want if you want to see it in person," Miles said pulling out his phone and pulling up a picture on the work in progress. "But that's about where I'm at right now."

Taking her usual seat out of the way and toward the back for these things, Freya looked ready to listen and pay attention and, if maybe not learn something entirely new, at least have something new to mull over and think about.

Wei Wuxian had a notebook and pen and was ready to learn. He'd just discovered retractable ballpoint pens, and he couldn't stop playing with his. Click-click. Click-click. Click-click.

Wei Wuxian grinned and held up the pen. "Yes! Isn't it great? It holds all the ink inside and you can close it so the tip's protected!" He clicked it again to demonstrate.

Shuri found his enthusiasm endearing. "They've been around for a bit where I'm from, but they are still pretty great," she said, then held up her tablet. "I prefer typing my notes."

"Oh, it's much better than just a phone," Shuri said, beaming as she turned on its floating screen and let him borrow it. "I made it myself. It's a computer."

At this point, Illyana wasn't sure why she kept showing up. Morbid curiosity, maybe?

Still, she'd grab a seat and see what chaos was going to unfurl this time.

So Maeve wasn't actually sure this was mandatory at this point? But she didn't have anything better to do and honestly she was curious, so she was going to take a seat and see.
