Intro to PE, Thursday Period One

For once, Cara and Magnus weren't holding class in the Danger Shop but the gym. They had two large piles beside them, one of clothes and one of balls. Probably nothing to worry about.

"Hail and well met, new class!" Magnus said. "This is gym class and I'm Magnus Burnsides."

"Cara," she said for the benefit of those students who couldn't make the logical leap themselves. "According to the office, there's a uniform, and luckily we found a few sets for you."

Cara didn't specify who was supposed to be lucky in this situation.

It was just some far too loose basketball shorts and jerseys with 'Fandom High' proudly emblazoned on them. There was even a little cartoon gremlin! They also smelled like death! Because no-one thought to wash them first.

"And its day one, so we should learn who you all are, but we're gonna make it fun." For them. Fun for them.

"After you get changed, you're going to do introductions while running laps," Cara explained, not mentioning what the balls were for. They'd find out soon enough.

Cara is exceptionally chipper today. Surely nothing to worry about.

After giving the students a chance to *handwavily* go tot he lockers and change, Cara gestured for them to start doing laps.

"Name, where you're from, and what you hope to get out of the class." She threw a ball at a random student. "You first."

Though if you want to say "Stop throwing balls at me" the answer is no.

Best teachers. For realz.

Adora, 1 and 1!

Adora was used to changing into a training uniform (and didn't have a lot of opinions on clothes in any case), and normally, running laps and dodging were two things that she was really great at.

Normally she wasn't covered in bruises from getting shot at with paint-balls all day, and hadn't gotten anywhere enough sleep ~~all week~~ afterwards.

"Hey!" She flailed at the ball, trying and failing at batting it away. "Stop that!"

Troy had briefly considered, while changing into his uniform, pulling an excuse sith his keg flip injury to get out of running laps, but he was falling behind on cool cred, especially with his ~~non-existant~~ abysmal showing in paintbalm yesterday, so he should really take the chance to show off his athletic prowess.

It was kind of the only thing hd had going for him, anyway.

He definitely tried to avoid the ball, didn't quite, gave a confident "I meant for the to hit me!" before then adding, while keeping the jog steady, "Troy. Troy Barnes. Colorado. Starting quarterback for Riverside High," as a sophomore, too!, "so I gotta keep my game form on while I'm here. Since...you know...no football."

Which he was heartbroken about. Just so HEARTBROKEN, really.

"That's two of the three answered," Cara said as she tossed another ball Adora's way. "Where are you from, Hey?"

Cara was kind of an asshole.

"I think we had cheerleaders for a while," Cara said. "You could start that up again."

She followed that up with another ball.

"C'mon, Heystopthat!" He knew a good running joke when he heard one. "You gotta answer!"

Adora actually managed to trip over that one. "Etheria," she said. "And my name's not Hey."

Still lying on the ground, Adora picked up the ball she'd tripped over and tossed it at Magnus. "Adora!" That was an answer.

About five seconds later she realised what she'd jsut done.

Illyana Rasputin, 17 & 11

Had Illyana used magic to clean her uniform? Absofuckingluetly. Wong's modified Spell of Prestidigitation was amazing, okay? Not a long-term solution, but good enough for today so that it wasn't revolting.

"Illyana Nikolievna Alexandria Rasputina," she said while moving at barely a jog, because she hated everything about this already and so she was willing to make them choke on her full name. "New York. I don't want to be here."

Well. Maybe she'd get points for brutal honesty?

"That means it's working," Cara replied cheerfully, throwing another ball at Illyana. "It's character building!"

Ulysses Zane, 6 & 18

Without even thinking about it, Illyana smacked the ball away. "I have been informed that I have an 'attitude problem.' I've got plenty of character."

Ulysses hated this. But everyone could already probably tell, right? Because he looked like he was suffering as he jogged along.

(He'd been looking like he was suffering since he'd put on the uniform, honestly.)

"I'm Ulysses," he said, trying to dodge a ball. "From California. And I did not sign up for this."

That was all right, Cara had plenty more where that came from.

"Then you shouldn't have any problem with this." Cara was really having too much fun with this class.

No one had, Ulysses, no one had.

"Blame the moose." She certainly had back when she was a student.

"This sucks." Hello was for losers, okay?

It was.

"This sucks." And he was making such a face about it, too.

~~Might wanna toss the dice in the garbage because you rolled a 2, Adora.~~

Magnus caught the ball because of that sweet magic glove of his and chucked it back at her... It was a natural 1, so he fell over doing so. And it hurt. Also, super embarrassing.

"What even just happened?!"

Mae Borowski, 9 &17!

Mae could run all day if she wanted to. And didn't do laundry often enough with her own clothes. But having to wear someone else's dirty clothes while being told to run was . . . not ideal.

"Mae Borowski, Possum Springs. And, I dunno. Something something 'fully rounded education' probably."

She was pretty good at dodging those balls at least ~~with a dex modifier~~? Until she mistimed a jump, landed on one, and went tumbling right onto her face. ~~Good thing that constitution roll was nice and high~~.

Illyana swatted away the next ball too. "My problem is that it's boring."

Honestly, if it had been knives or spells, or even sharp rocks, then this would be fun. But she was aware that her sense of 'fun' was still a little twisted from her upbringing.

Alara Kitan, 4 & 3

“I’m Alara Kitan,” Alara said, not really having an issue with running laps, ”I’m from a planet called Xeyala and we have high gravity so I thought this class would be good for maintaining my strength,”

~~And you hadn't even seen her trying to GM, Magnus.~~

She'd just lashed out at a teacher was what happened (yesterday hadn't counted, it'd been the point), so Adora was just going to have a little panic attack as she braced herself for the other shoe to fall.

There were far too many forms they would've needed to fill out to do that, and this was already fun for Cara. "If I'd known you needed things more interesting, I'd have asked my girlfriend to come and help out."

Surreal had plenty of knives, spells, and generally sharp things.

"They're fond of that here", Cara agreed as she tossed a fully rounded ball at Mae.

Well, Alara had just doomed the class to strength exercises, or more accurately 'strength exercises'. "We can work with that."

"Oh man, I got Merle's stink rolls," he grumbled, gingerly standing back up. "Hey, you okay over there?"

Adora forced herself to breathe normally and to stand. At attention. "Yes, sir."

So completely normal behaviour there.

It was not and right now Magnus had the urge to punch people for causing it.

"Nah, I'm not a sir kinda teacher, you know?"

Did Adora relax a fraction? It was hard to tell. "If you say so..."

This was what happened when you took someone neutral-leaning-chaotic good and punished other people whenever they broke the rules.

UM. THOROUGHLY UNCOOL. He said as someone nominally lawful good.

"You wanna hug?"

Yes, but not from Magnus...yet. Maybe one day.

"I'd really rather not."

Magnus nodded sagely at that. "Offers there," he said with a thumbs up.
