Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

As the heat continued to bear down on the lawn, many of the tables and chairs were set up in the spots where there was shade, so no one got overheated or anything. That would be very rude for the first day in Fandom, after all.

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Freya had actually managed to get a portal to the right Gaia earlier that week, and so she was convinced that that was that, and her little excursion to this island was over, and she could continue her search for Sir Fratley in earnest.

So imagine her surprise when she boarded a train car for the business district in Lindblum and wound up exiting it not in the business district or even in Lindblum at all, but back at the end of the causeway on Fandom Island.

So if she seemed a little irritable, especially in her flickering tail, as perused through various cheese bites at the food tables, well, could you blame her?

She clearly needed to stop taking those cars. She could get there in a few leaps if she had wanted to!

Miles was going back to get food when he saw Freya and just stopped and stared with his mouth open.

Sorry, Freya, you broke the newbie's brain.

It was about damn time!

Freya's tail twitched a little behind her as she thought she felt eyes specifically on her, and turned her head to see if she was right.

It was pretty hard to not located the source in the staring, gaping boy, but, not wanting to let her bad mood and frustration make her seem unfriendly, she nodded her head in greeting and lifted a paw in a wave.

"You're one of the new students?" she guessed.

Miles waved his paw... nope. His hand back at the... rat person?

"Uh. Yeah. Pretty obvious I guess," Miles said looking confused and embarrassed. "Sorry, I didn't mean to stare. I just-"

He gestured something that basically he had no idea what.

"Yeah. New experience."

"It's alright," Freya assured him. "I take it you're from a world like this one that isn't as...populated with...people like me?"

"Honestly, I've seen no one like you," Miles admitted. "Well, there are a couple of weird people in New York that are pretty odd but I've never seen them up close. And I don't think I've ever seen someone look like you. I apologize for staring. This is all just so new. And weird."

"Like I said," Freya offered, shrugging her shoulders a little, "it's alright. I've gotten a little used to it, especially whenever I go to the mainland. It shouldn't be surprising that no one's seen a Burmecian before when Burmecia doesn't exist on this world. My name's Freya, by the way. Freya Crescent. Of Burmecia. Which is on a world called Gaia."

“Oh! I’m Miles Morales,” he said trying to be polite. “I’m from Brooklyn which is a city on Earth.”

"I've heard of Brooklyn!" Freya offered, with a faint flicker of a smile at the recognition. "It's part of a larger city north of here called New York, isn't it? "

"Right! It's a great place really," he said, because anyone from Brooklyn or New York somehow think it's the best place on Earth. "It's a great community. I've barely left Brooklyn."

It was the outfit that caught Troy's eye at first, because it was a little hard to ignore what looked like a fancy knight or something at the food station, but then when Freya turned around and Troy saw her face...

...the sound he released was startled, it was squeaky, and he would be about two seconds from threatening to pound anyone who may have heard it if it weren't the fact that he was a little too distracted by a giant rat at the food table.

Well, a reaction like that was a little...difficult to just ignore.Freya had startled a few people on the main land before, but never quite to that...extent.

She didn't know what to do about that except for just lift a paw with a hopeful sort of expression on her face as she said, "Hello. Are you one of the new students?"
