Summer Shenanigans, August 12, 2020
Today's games were not being held in the park, which should have been a red flag. Fortunately, Anakin has provided a red flag!
Twenty feet up.
At the end of a very gross-looking wooden pole.
"Today you're all out of for yourselves," Anakin yelled from the top of recycled "Let's Pretend We Can Fly" scaffolding, which had a 40-foot long greased up telephone pole balanced between it about 20 feet up. "Many thanks to our local bars and restaurants for providing the lard, grease, fish guts, Crisco and bacon fat to really lube this thing up."
Beaker, covered in said grossness, looked decidedly less grateful.

"The rules are simple," Anakin said. "Whoever gets across the pole and reaches the flag wins all you can eat at Mooby Burger for a week! You may walk, run, or slide your way across, but you may not use supernatural powers."
Whether Mooby Burger was a good prize or not was entirely up to the winners.
"And thank you in advance to the following people for volunteering!"
Which may be news to those volunteers.
"Sidon, Steve Rogers, Tisarwat, Rosa, Shuri, Stark, Prompto, Rey, Eleanor, Freya, Wayne, Shunsui, Amaya, Summer, Sabine, Steve McGarrett, and Barry! Get on up here!"

Arrive and Mingle
Voluntolds, Come on Dooooown!
And Go!
Talk to Anakin
OOC
Re: Voluntolds, Come on Dooooown!
"I don't even live here anymore," he groused as he looked up at that poll and tried to tell himself (unsuccessfully) that it wasn't even that far up. "What am I going to do with all you can eat Mooby's for a week?"
Damn, though, a Mooby burger did sound pretty good right about now...
Re: OOC
Re: OOC
Re: Voluntolds, Come on Dooooown!
...nope, no. She could try not to be grossed out about it, but she hadn't even gotten up to the thing yet and she was already being reminded of waaaaaay too many gross things she'd experienced in her past.
So this should be a fun one.
Re: Voluntolds, Come on Dooooown!
Re: Voluntolds, Come on Dooooown!
Uuuuuugh.
Re: And Go!
With that, he got to the task of getting himself up there and beginning what would surely be an arduous trek across, but one he was grateful he had these nice convenient claws for!
Re: Voluntolds, Come on Dooooown!
This, he felt, could fit that bill.
And it wasn't like there was anything making him do it, now, was there? He could probably just slip away and no one would notice...
Re: Arrive and Mingle
She would definitely be rooting for you, Sabine! And wondering if she should be proactive about going to go find a hose...
Re: Voluntolds, Come on Dooooown!
But she was actually looking at this as a challenge. She'd done worse. (Probably.)
Re: Arrive and Mingle
Okay! Finding a hiding spot!
Re: Voluntolds, Come on Dooooown!
Because she could probably leap the length of that pole without much trouble, and she'd earned that ability through hard work and training, which hardly seemed like it should be considered a superpower, just a mere benefit for her discipline. On the other hand, doing so certainly did seem far beyond the spirit of the whole game...
If anything, she knew she already had another advantage over most of the other competitors with her claws, making Sidon likely her stiffest competition with the same advantage. But he was a creature of water, and surely that bulk would prove to add to his challenge...
Re: Voluntolds, Come on Dooooown!
Rosa, you were clearly way, way too down with this, and the fact that she was actually grinning in public should concern everyone.
But this? She could do this. She could totally do this, and she'd kick everyone's butts, and then she'd be able to torture Tightpants every day for the rest of the week by eating nothing but terrible Mooby burgers in front of him as much as possible.
Who knew she'd actually enjoy cohabitation this much after all?
Re: Voluntolds, Come on Dooooown!
And smiled.
He pulled out his phone and started to put in some remote calls to his equipment.
Re: Voluntolds, Come on Dooooown!
This seemed like exactly the sort of a challenge a knight-hopeful would have to pursue, and so she found herself grinning eagerly with the chance to attempt it, giving her gloves a firm tug and thinking a bit on how best to do it.
Mooby's didn't quite have the level of stick-related items that Amaya liked to see when she went out to eat, but it still had a novelty to it that she could appreciate.
Re: Voluntolds, Come on Dooooown!
Re: And Go!
Ten seconds later a loud vrooming sound like a rocket was heard. He simply held his arms out as a rocket pack zoomed in and attached itself to Barry's back. Immediately he flew up to the top of the pole and grabbed the flag.
"You didn't say anything about technology!" Barry shouted down to Anakin.
Re: Voluntolds, Come on Dooooown!
Grease on the log was actualleh not a bad idea to incorperate fer the next time, realleh....and then he kind of got a bit distracted in his own head, thinkin' of greasy skids fallin' off greasy logs.
Careful, there, though, Wayne, someone might actually notice the hint of a smile in there.
Re: Voluntolds, Come on Dooooown!
What a waste of Jello it would be!
Re: Voluntolds, Come on Dooooown!
"I'd actually feel better about jello," she said. "Jello, I know. I'm a master at jello, but this is a whole 'nother ballpark.
"I have something for you, by the way," she added, because it was related. "It's settling in the fridge right now, but I think you'll find it...impressive."
Sure, that was a word for it.
Re: Voluntolds, Come on Dooooown!
Re: And Go!
So she made her way slowly across, her foot slipping a little once or twice, but never bad enough that it looked like she'd actually fall. See, this is why she was careful about things.
Also because there was food at stake.
Re: Voluntolds, Come on Dooooown!
Re: And Go!
He got about two-thirds along the pole before he lost his footing and plunged into the water below.
He'd be smelling like fish for a while, too.
Re: Arrive and Mingle
The fact that she had never made any quick cash off Mae never really occurred to her.
Why? Reasons.
Re: Voluntolds, Come on Dooooown!
Re: And Go!
Re: And Go!
He made it halfway across on his first attempt, but if you thought he wouldn't be out here practicing until he got it right, you didn't know Steve very well.
Re: And Go!
He didn't want to add greased-up logs to their weekly workouts--the smell would kill them.
Re: And Go!
Re: Voluntolds, Come on Dooooown!
And tuna! And mayo! And Caeser dressing! And so many wonderful surprises to be had.
Re: Voluntolds, Come on Dooooown!
Tony despaired for his taste buds. Truly.
"Should I swing by the bar tonight?"
Re: Voluntolds, Come on Dooooown!
She didn't know what that level would be. She was pretty sure it was some form of a level of hell, but she would acheive something alright.
"If you do," she said, "I can bring the one I made normal and keep it in the bar fridge until you get there." She was pretty sure Tino kept much, much worse in that fridge, anyway. "And you could try the ones I made with booze as shots, too, if you're feeling really adventurous." She was not expecting him to take her up on that, no, but wouldn't it be something if he did? "Otherwise, I'll just drop it off at your place tomorrow or something."
Re: And Go!
Re: Voluntolds, Come on Dooooown!
"New experiences," he muttered.
Re: Voluntolds, Come on Dooooown!
After about forty seven showers. Thanks, Anakin.
Re: Voluntolds, Come on Dooooown!
Summer grinned. "Perfact. I'll bring it, then."
Also, she may sort of love the idea of serving wholesome-ass Steeeeve here at her bar, like, way too much.
Re: And Go!
Just in case.
Re: And Go!
And she was.
Till about five feet away from the end when her boot caught a particularly bad lump of whatever and sent her tumbling below.
She was so mad.
