Time Management- Monday- 3rd period

The Danger Shop today looked like a stereotypical teen's bedroom. Posters on the walls, laundry on the floor, seventeen or so empty cups crammed onto the top of a bedside table. Of course, this stereotypical teen was lucky enough to have a connected bathroom and a walk-in closet, so maybe they were stereotypical on TV?

"Good morning! You're late," Jaye greeted them. "You have to be at school in fifteen minutes and it will take you ten to run there. You're all going to take turns running a timed test. You have five minutes to get ready. You have access to the closet and bathroom. What do you sacrifice to get ready to get out the door as fast as possible? And no, you can't say you're just going to walk in late or ditch, before anyone asks."

This was less a knock on any student and more just what she would have done.

Get in bed! When the alarm goes off you have five minutes to get ready and out the door! Go!

"So what. I just get down to my underwear for this?" Eleanor asked immediately just taking off her shirt and kicking off her shoes. "This should be easy because I did the same thing ten minutes ago before coming here."

Shoes kicked off and now her jeans, Eleanor crawled into bed and waited for the alarm to go off. As soon as it did she:

1. Put her shirt on.
2. Called Wayne a perv for looking at her even if he wasn't looking.
3. Put on her jeans.
4. Ponytail.
5. Shoved her feet in her shoes and half hopped around because she hadn't bothered to unlace them in the first place.

"Boom!" She shouted and walked out the door.

"You could have just changed in the closet!" Jaye called.

"But then Tahani couldn't check me out and I couldn't call Wayne a perv," Eleanor pointed out.

Priorities, Tyler.

Was having a panic attack on the list? Because that is totally the choice Tahani went with.

She couldn't get her eyebrows done in five minutes, let alone begin to pick out a wardrobe!

“Come on girl!” Eleanor said, clapping for encouragement. “There’s sweatpants on the floor over there! Use the baseball cap and pull your hair through the back!”

"I'm not wearing floor sweatpants in public!" the blanket with Tahani's accent wailed.

"Okay. Then you'll probably fail the exercise. And the course," Eleanor told the blanket.

Kamilah would have totally worn the sweatpants, Tahani. And have gotten positive press coverage for it.

Kamilah would be featured on TMZ with a Kardashian and a Hadid wearing high-waisted Mom jorts and a shirt from TJ Maxx extolling the virtue of upcycling old clothing. It was all so terribly unfair.

The blanket wavered slightly. "I cannot fail."

But floor sweatpants. Floor. Sweatpants.

"Tick tock, princess!" Eleanor said trying to lay on the pressure. "C'mon! Sweatpants! Sweatpants! Sweatpants!"

Honestly, Eleanor was not doing this to help Tahani. It was strictly for entertainment value. -100 points.

With an overdramatic groan, Tahani bolted out of bed and grabbed the sweatpants. She was going to pretend they were cashmere and Valentino.

She pulled her hair up into a messy bun, splashed water on her face, gargled with mouthwash and grabbed a mint.

"This is the worst," she groaned while still managing to look better than many, many people.

Just not Kamilah.

Eleanor sat looking at the vision that was Tahani wearing sweatpants and was of course immediately angered by just how good she looked. How could sweatpants somehow accentuate all her body features in just the right way? There might as well be cartoon birds flying around her and chirping in tune like a Disney Princess.

So unfair.

"You look great," she said flatly. "Even in forking sweatpants."

Damn it.
