It was a beautiful day in the park, where a punk-looking pink chameleon with piercings and a studded net stood with Anakin. It didn't even look scary! There was just a covered cart behind them which held quite a few cages that would safely hold bugs.

"When the universe contemplates beauty, it imagines the silhouette of the long locust," Flick said, to himself but also to everyone else, before realizing he'd said it aloud. "Oh! Um. Sorry. Lost in my thoughts…"

"Is there any way you can turn off the frelling music?" Anakin asked Flick, and not for the first time. "It stopped being cheerful and started being annoying by mid-Monday."

"The only music I hear is the music of the robust cicadas," Flick answered.

So, no.

"I didn't know cicadas were such accomplished musicians," Anakin said sourly. "Welcome to our weekly meet-up, everyone! Flick here has decided to help us."

Muted meeping came from a grove of trees.

"Beaker has fallen into a hole," he added.

"Hello and welcome to the bug-off," Flick announced. "The goal is to catch as many bugs as possible in three minutes from anywhere on the island and bring them to us. Every bug you net gets you points.  If you don't want them afterwards, you can sell them to me. I can pay a little extra- no price is too high for my chitinous kindred! Oh… and if you're um, interested in my art at all, just let me know, My commissions are open ok bye."

"We will work in teams," Anakin said, "and send you out to different parts of the island so everyone isn't getting smacked with a net going after the same bugs."

Which would be entertaining, but so were the holes.  "To make this more interesting, Flick has planted--" he blinked, '--what did you call them again?"

"Pitfall seeds," Flick said, shrugging. "If you step on it, you'll fall in a hole."

"Meep meep MEEP meep," Beaker agreed from the hole he was in.

"So, yes. We're catching bugs for money," Anakin said. "It's not the weirdest thing I've had you do."

It was up there, though.

"Listen for your names! And thank you to the Able Sisters for their generous donation of costuming this week!"

Were you afraid? Good.

So there had been a slight accident at the warehouse today. Nothing to worry about. Barry had jury-rigged a roomba to clean up anything dangerous. Really.

Which is why Barry found himself here not paying any attention to what was going on around him and staring at his tablets to keep track on what was happening back in the warehouse. Which did not have anything dangerous. Really.

Oh good! Ellie got here just in time for the bug-off! She was so excited to sit and watch, and maybe make some new friends! She'd only just gotten to the island, after all.

Yasha had absolutely not intended to be here, for the record. She had been wandering about trying to collect one of each color and variety of the new flowers that had cropped up around the island this week, for her book of course, and gotten waylaid by some disarmingly adorable bipedal talking animal who'd put a lot of effort into talking her into coming here.

And Yasha, being ... well, Yasha, was far too awkward to turn it down with any grace and went along with it in the end. Despite there being far too many people here.

The potential for having people pay attention to her was definitely high, given her height and dramatically monochromatic aesthetic, and to say she looked uncomfortable would be a hell of an understatement.

Rey hadn't actually complained a single time that she'd had to put on an ugly shirt or whatever for these.

But as she picked up a green princess dress, she... oh what. What was this. Why.

Barry was a bit distracted when his name was called out. And when he came down to see what this was all about... he saw the costume.

"All right. Well. Catching bugs is bullshit but this costume is fucking cool," Barry replied and happily put it on.

Oh, Sabine hated this.

"There's a reason I modified my armor away from this," she complained. And now she had to put an astronaut costume on over her armor because she wasn't going to leave it around for someone to do whatever with.

Prompto was mostly coming to these things when he could get the day off to see if Nina was able to get back yet, since their phones had not been the most reliable things I the entire multi verse, but sometimes? Sometimes the fashion would hit just right, too.

"Ooooooooh," he said, chuckling a little as he shrugged on his shirt and held out his arms to look it over better, before snapping a few selfies for the boyos. "I like it!"

Because of course he would.

The look on Amaya's face was just about what anyone who knew her would expect it to be when finding out she'd be wearing a princess dress for this, but, at the same time, she also knew it could have been much worse and she knew she should be grateful it was something to wear that wasn't bedsheets or curtains (or bikinis) when you got right down to it.

Rosa was not going to comment on her outfit, and she looked like anyone who thought they might have one could go ahead and think again.

But mostly, she looked impatient to start. Because those Bells she needed for her new building weren't going to earn themselves.

Or maybe they would. She only vaguely actually knew how thos worked, but she was pretty sure she was wasting time right now.

Wayne's squint and furrowed brow was getting increasingly more distressed as it became obvious just want all this mess of green actually was.

Catch Bugs!

Anakin has spread you out across the island and there will be three separate rounds where you work together as a team to catch as many bugs as you can without falling into holes. There are a bunch of butterflies, some small beetles you'll find on the ground and bigger ones you'll find on the trees, cicadas of all sizes, you'll find bees and mantises and ladybugs on flowers, you can shake trees to find wasps...

Please, please shake the trees.

Flick was anxious about how many bugs he might get today, but he was also too cool to show it.

How would he react if a drone beetle manifested before him? Laughter? Weeping?
