Advanced Criminal Justice, Class 24, Period 1, 04.06.06

[OOC: Projects can be presented as late as Tuesday, so take some time and have some fun if you want. Don't forget to wear hats for EC. If you'd like, the shop can probably generate a hat for you. And what follows is probably the shortest main body to a class post I've ever written. Class Info Post.]

"Welcome to the Danger Shop, class! Today are your presentations. When it's your turn, please get up, present your theory, and do whatever it is you're going to do with the shop! I can't wait to see what everyone came up with!"

"Except, we couldn't find a video that worked for our theory, so we sort of... decided to make our own." Bridge explains.

Sam grinned, as the scene behind her changed to look remarkably like a clearing in the middle of the Vancouver woods, with four people in uniform, walking along. "As you can see, we have four individuals who are exploring, minding their own business..."

Anyone who's seen either Wormhole X-Treme or Dekaranger (the Abaranger spinoff/sequel, of course) might recognise the four individuals as Dr. Levant, Grell, Jasmine, and Senichi.

"Well, okay, technically, they're *actually* out looking for an intergalactic criminal mastermind. He's managed to stay one step ahead of our team so far, but they're finally closing in..."

Suddenly, the four people were surrounded by a large herd of knee-high alien robot dinosaurs. Grell raised both eyebrows in what was supposed to be a question to Jasmine, but he ended up just looking surprised. "I believe we are surrounded."

Dr. Levant bent down to study them more closely and stated, "These dinosaurs should be harmless, Grell. Look how they're based on herbivores? You can tell by the shape of their mouths and teeth."

One promptly bit him in the nose, and another on the foot. "Ow." He started hopping as he tried to shake them loose, and fell over very shortly thereafter. Within minutes, he was covered in the dinosaurs.

"That... can't be good," Senichi said, staring the pile of knee-high alien robot dinosaurs.

"You have quite the talent for understatement, Sen," Jasmine remarked, rolling up her sleeves. "Well, I suppose there's really only one thing to do now." She looked at Grell. "If they think this is going to be an easy fight, well, they've got another think coming, don't they?"

"For a certainty," he nodded once, then took a martial arts fighting stance. Within minutes, he was knocking the dinosaurs to the side and helping Dr. Levant to his feet. The doctor immediately began brushing himself off and pouting glaring hostilely at the little creatures.

He looked at Senichi. "So they've been altered genetically to be aggressive. I think what we need here is a distraction, or some kind of plan."

Sam paused the program. "As you can see, on his own, Dr. Levant is possibly a danger to himself and others, but without him being there, there would be no one to state the obvious provide background information." She pressed play again.

"Distraction?" Sen grinned. "I can do distraction!" He immediately began looking around for something suitably distracting to use on the dinosaurs.

Luckily, there was a small stream nearby. Senichi pulled a small pail from his pack and went over to the stream to fill the pail, kicking at robot dinosaurs as he did so.

Once the pail was full, he threw it at the dinosaurs. The water managed to drench most of them, causing them to short-circuit. Water and circuitry? Don't mix.

With most of their attackers taken care of, Jasmine takes out several pairs of tiny-robot-sized handcuffs and manages to subdue the remaining robots.

"See!" Senichi grinned. "And you guys told me packing a pail was a silly idea!"

Dr. Levant grinned at Senichi. "Trust you to think outside the box, Sen. And Jasmine? Do I want to know where the handcuffs came from?"

Grell crouched down and read footprints in the dirt, then pointed towards a small cave. "The dinosaur tracks are coming from that direction, Doctor Levant. I believe that is where we will find their creator."

"Probably not," Jasmine said with a smirk in answer to Dr. Levant's question.

The others followed Grell until they reached the mouth of the cave.

"Any suggestions about what to do now?" Jasmine asked. Senichi opened his mouth to say something. "...that don't involve explosives?" Senichi closed his mouth and pouted.

Sam may have also been pouting a bit at the lack of explosives.

"Right," Dr. Levant said, peeking into the cave. "It looks like there's a central command console."

Grell looked at Jasmine, then inside, over Dr. Levant's shoulder. "There are four guards and numerous robotic creatures. Including a large alien dinosaur. Hoban is within, and seems unaware. Now is the time to strike."

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2006-04-11 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
"If you guys can distract the guards, I can go for the command console." Sen suggests. "I don't have a bucket of water this time, but knowing Hoban, the 'off' button will be pretty obvious, so that shouldn't be a problem."

Re: Group 6: Bridge/Sam [Class 24]

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2006-04-11 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
Dr. Levant chuckled. "Distraction I can handle." He winked at his team and wandered into the cave.

"Hello," he called to the guards. "How're things with you guys? Still evil?"

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2006-04-11 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
While Dr. Levant was busy distracting the guards, Senichi snuck over to the console and found the off button, which sure enough, was bright red and clearly labelled. Once he pressed it, all the robots in the cave were immediately deactivated.

"You might as well surrender, Hoban," Jasmine said. "We've defeated your army and we have you surrounded."

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2006-04-11 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Surrounded?" Dr. Levant whispered to Grell from where he was batting his eyelashes and surreptitiously flexing his biceps at the guards. "How is that possible when there are only four of us?"

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2006-04-11 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
Jasmine facepalmed. "We've got the only entrance covered, that's how!" she whispers.

Re: Group 6: Bridge/Sam [Class 24]

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2006-04-11 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah." Dr. Levant straightened his shirt and motioned towards the center of the room. "After you, Grell."

Grell took a few steps into the room, glared at the minions, and then beat them down with his staff weapon. Within minutes, only Hoban was standing, his finger on the button. "If you don't let me go, I'll bring this whole mountain down on our heads!"

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2006-04-11 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
Jasmine sighed, and, rolling her eyes, took out a pair of handcuffs and secured Hoban.

"Nice try. But I'm afraid you're coming with us."

Re: Group 6: Bridge/Sam [Class 24]

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2006-04-11 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Dr. Levant looked Jasmine over. "Where are you keeping all those handcuffs? Because I didn't see a line in your uniform, and the pockets aren't that big..." His ears turned red and he turned back to Hoban.

"You are officially under arrest for crimes against humanity. You have the right to remain silent, and I suggest you use it. Anything you say can and will be used against you in both court and the press. If you cannot afford a lawyer, one will be appointed to you. Do you understand?"

Hoban remained mute. Grell shoved him forward, and he stumbled, then glared at the alien in his too-bright fatigues. "Fine, I understand."

Senichi took up a position slightly behind Hoban to make sure he didn't escape.

"And so, as you can see," Bridge says, turning off the program, "each of the team members brought with them their own unique perspective and talents. Working seperately, they may not have succeeded. However, by working as a team, they balance out each other's strengths and weaknesses, allowing them to successfully detain the criminal and bring him to justice."
