Summer Shenanigans, Wednesday, July 1

Did Anakin care that it was a break week from workshops? He did not.

Did he care about the incessant sounds from the loon following him around? Slightly more, yeah, but glaring at the bird did nothing.

"This week we celebrate the national days of two countries on this continent," Anakin began grandly as everyone gathered in the park. "With parades and explosions, though I've been told not at the same time."

He couldn't help but sounding a little disappointed about that revelation. "So today you will work together in teams to make thematically appropriate--" as determined by a guy not even from this planet who married a girl from a small New England town that celebrated many, many things that weren't actually holidays, "--parade floats and matching costumes. You have all day and many, many craft supplies!"

Because really, what else was going on?

"Listen for your names!"

"World War One was a global war that lasted nearly four years, considered at the time to be the 'war to end all wars,' up until World War II came 'round to show it what's what. Sparked when Bosnian Serb Yugoslav nationalist Gavrilo Princip shot the Austro-Hungarian Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo. And in marches the rest of Europe and a little bit of Asia and the majority of the North American continent in what would turn out to be a major turning point in the socio-political enterprise of the entire world, sparking numerous uprisings and revolutions, as well as the Treaty of Versailles. It lead to the conclusive termination of the Austro-Hungarian, German, Ottoman, and Russian Empires, and the creation of the League of Nations in an attempt to prevent more world wars, but, seein' as there's a second one, you can guess just about how well that worked out fer us."

Well, Iris, you asked.

She had, in fact.

"Alright, history book, I got it," she said, frowning at their float. "Can we just have an assassination happen on the float?"

Iris, no.

Prompto was just going to look at you and arch his eyebrows for a moment, Wayne, because here you called him spare parts?

"Ummm," he ventured, because global wars and assassinations were the last thing he wanted to think about right now while his sister was entrenched in the middle of one and he had no idea what was going on, yaaaaaaay, "maaaaybe an assassination's not the best idea for a float? I mean, we could just, like, represent the countries or something? Or this League of Nations thing, that sounds, you know....less murdery?"

"You can't really make a war less murdery," Iris noted dryly.

She was still on board the whole murder float, though, because of course she would be.

"Ain't going to argue if we want to go more mystery dinner theater though..."

"What's a mystery dinner theater?"

Sorry, team! Rey was unhelpful in this one.

"Pretty conceptual," Danny chimed in dryly. He was on his phone, looking for stuff to put in his new apartment that was somehow better than his actual home. Which wasn't fair.

Also, he was on this team against his will.

"Maybe we should just go musical theater at that point."

"Oh, definitely," Iris said because, well, she'd taken a look at all of her team members and...

They deserved to be dragged into something stupid, they really did. They were all too serious. (Okay, Prompto wasn't usually but majority rules.)

"I can sing," she said helpfully.

'Helpfully'.
