Summer Shenanigans, Wednesday, July 1

Did Anakin care that it was a break week from workshops? He did not.

Did he care about the incessant sounds from the loon following him around? Slightly more, yeah, but glaring at the bird did nothing.

"This week we celebrate the national days of two countries on this continent," Anakin began grandly as everyone gathered in the park. "With parades and explosions, though I've been told not at the same time."

He couldn't help but sounding a little disappointed about that revelation. "So today you will work together in teams to make thematically appropriate--" as determined by a guy not even from this planet who married a girl from a small New England town that celebrated many, many things that weren't actually holidays, "--parade floats and matching costumes. You have all day and many, many craft supplies!"

Because really, what else was going on?

"Listen for your names!"

"Do I get to blow something up?" Sabine checked.

That was really Anakin's fault.

"I don't see why we couldn't," Shuri said cheerfully.

So this would end well.

"I mean," Summer supplied, knowing exactly who she was answering this to, "the fireworks at Fourth of July are supposed to recall gunfire and cannons, I think, so I'm pretty sure it's, like, actually required."

It was not, but there was, like, what? A handful of people on the island who even knew what the Fourth of July probably even was before coming here?

"I can be back in five minutes with actual fireworks," Sabine said, and added, "Safely."

Because people kept freaking out about explosives here.

Children these days with their love of explosions. It made Silver feel very old.

"Well if it's required then we should absolutely do it," he agreed. "Safely."

Shunsui significantly doubted Summer-chan's claim that such explosives were required, but far be it from him to keep the ladies from having their fun.

"In the meantime," he said, with a faint sort of smile that was already hoping the answer would be 'not much,' "what do you suppose the rest of us might do? Surely, it can't all be explosions ♥?"

Explosions were just a bit tricky to simply sleep through.

"We apparently also require costumes," Shuri said. "Something drapey and hard to mess up, perhaps?"

"I'll leave the costumes to you lot." Said the man currently dressed like a pirate.

Though being only 61 years difference from 1776 he actually was the most period appropriate here.

"So you can work on our...platform bit?" Shuri suggested, smiling.
