"Good morning, everyone!" Anakin called through his bullhorn. "Welcome to another fun-filled team-building activity!"

Is everyone excited? No? Ahhh, you're learning.

There were laundry baskets out, along with scooters, and roughly 3,000 plastic balls in the center of the blacktop ~~that totally existed, shhh~~.

"Today we're playing Hungry, Hungry Hippos," Anakin announced. "Without actual hippos."

Which needed to be pointed out around here. "Because they are mean and not into team sports."

Because he'd called a few zoos to find out.

"We'll have three teams today, of six members each. One member each round will lay stomach down, clutching the laundry basket. The second team member will use their legs to push them into the balls at the center of the arena."

Blacktop. Whatever.

"The team with the most number of balls at the end of six rounds win."

Liam's expression went blank and distant for a moment or two, the way it tended to do when he was searching through memories not his own for understanding of something.

(Perhaps not surprisingly, Norse myth had not come up terribly often in his line of work, so it wasn't something he was familiar with personally.)

"Thor," he said slowly, eyes focusing back on Steve again. "As in the Norse god?" He supposed it could have just been someone named after the Norse god, but 'Asgardian sense of comradeship and competition' sounded a little more intense than someone who was just really in to their heritage.

Steve nodded. "He's my teammate back in New York. When he's not back on his home planet."

He flipped to a blurry selfie he and Thor had taken together and showed it off. "Thor!"

Yeah that looked... about what he figured Thor would look like, honestly.

“Your life is so strange,” Liam said, shaking his head and giving Steve an amused smile. And Liam was saying that as someone who’d spent a year at one with the Universe as pure consciousness.

Steve grinned. "And I just pushed my fiance around as he pretended to be a hippo and didn't puke on anything, despite his raging hangover. I'm so proud."

Liam snickered. “Not gonna lie, I’m glad my metabolism means hangovers aren’t something I have to worry about. They seem unpleasant.” Not that said metabolism was all sunshine and roses, of course; give Liam an Advil and he’d be high as a kite.

"I don't get them either," Steve said, grinning. "I can't get drunk unless Thor hooks me up with his alien alcohol."

"Oh, I can get drunk. I just," he made a bit of a face. "Choose not to."

The experience with the tremens a couple years back had sort of soured him on the whole experience, honestly. Even without having to worry about hangovers.

"Alien alcohol, huh?" he tilted his head, giving Steve a considering look. "I wonder if umbena would do the trick for you," Liam mused. He still had a bottle or two of the stuff kicking around, and it wasn't as if he was ever going to drink it.

"What's umbena?" Steve asked.

"The word itself translates to 'loyalty'," and also 'betrayal', because it was all about the delivery in Eunoia. "It's... Taelon tequila, basically. Blue, glowing, and has a hell of a kick."

"Tony would definitely be up for trying that, even if it doesn't get me drunk," Steve said, laughing.

"... Oh?" Liam raised an eyebrow. Mostly because Tony did not look like he was up for much at all at this particular moment, anyway.

"Well, probably not tonight," Steve admitted.

"Might wanna give him some time to recover," Liam agreed. "... And have plenty of water on hand. And painkillers."

"So laughing and making him participate in group activities today was...wrong?" Steve said, grinning.

"I wouldn't go that far," Liam said, amused. "After all, I think he gets something out of it too."

"The joy of working together as a team!" Steve said in his Cap-iest voice.

"Mmmm," Liam said in... agreement, sure. "I was thinking more playing up the sympathy card after the fact." Were you or were you not making a bagel run to New York, Steven?

"Oh, the bagels," Steve said, grinning. "Yeah."

"He's got you trained well," Liam said.

As if he wouldn't have done the exact same thing for Verity.
