"Good morning, everyone!" Anakin called through his bullhorn. "Welcome to another fun-filled team-building activity!"

Is everyone excited? No? Ahhh, you're learning.

There were laundry baskets out, along with scooters, and roughly 3,000 plastic balls in the center of the blacktop ~~that totally existed, shhh~~.

"Today we're playing Hungry, Hungry Hippos," Anakin announced. "Without actual hippos."

Which needed to be pointed out around here. "Because they are mean and not into team sports."

Because he'd called a few zoos to find out.

"We'll have three teams today, of six members each. One member each round will lay stomach down, clutching the laundry basket. The second team member will use their legs to push them into the balls at the center of the arena."

Blacktop. Whatever.

"The team with the most number of balls at the end of six rounds win."

[Alara pushes Wayne, Shuri pushes Sidon, Duke pushes Steve. RNG says it goes: Team Red Dress, Team Whamp, Team Cinnamon Smell.]

Steve bellyflopped onto their scooter thing and bent his knees up for Duke to use his legs for steering. "This isn't the weirdest thing I've ever done," he said, grabbing the laundry basket, "but it's up there."

"Really?" Duke asked, looking at Steve and trying to work out just how the hell he was supposed to kick a full grown man around after a bunch of beach balls. "Because I'm pretty sure it tops my list."

"You hold me around the ankles and push like the world's most ridiculous wheelbarrow, I think," Steve said. "I'm teaching a Norse god about baseball in my spare time, so my threshold for weird is high."

"Right," Duke said, thinking back on the instructions and nodding his head. "Wrong 'they'. Where the hell does this guy come up with these things?" He reached for Steve's ankles with a faint grimace. "Why does the Norse god want to know about baseball?"

"I was explaining how he could use his magic hammer like a baseball bat to hit my shield into a bad guy, compared it to the 1941 World Series and lost him," Steve said, holding the laundry basket above his head.

"Magic hammer. You're friends with Thor."

Why did he even bother asking these things anymore?

"Do you know Thor too?" Steve asked, grinning. "He's fun."

"Only by reputation," Duke said. "I'm a little disconcerted by how not surprised I am to hear that you know him personally."

"He's on my team," Steve said. "He would love this activity."

Unironically adore it.

"I'll video some when I'm not involved and send it to him."

Via raven, possibly.

"Glad someone will," Duke said. ". . . Other than that weird cat kid."

The weird cat kid looked way too excited by all this.

"And the Dean," Steve said. "Remarkable how his name never gets called."

"I mean. He's calling the names. I'd be leaving me off that list, too."

"Someone should take it over one week and give him a taste of his own medicine," Steve said, picking up the balls with...far more accuracy than strictly necessary.

"They should," Duke agreed. "Maybe someone immune to that Force mojo."

"Beaker?" Steve offered. "He seems to defy all the laws of physics."

Duke looked over at Beaker. "Yeah, pretty sure whatever he came up with would be worse."

"That's a good point," Steve admitted. "Who'd be your choice?"

Shuri gazed up and up and up at Sidon. "Well this is going to be quite the engineering challenge."

And Sidon grinned toothily down and down and down, before giving his fist an enthusiastic pump.

"I remember this one from last year, I believe!" he said with a burst of excitement, and then got down so that he could situate himself on that little, itty bitty scooter. "It was magnificent! These scooters are remarkably durable, and it's really quite easy to find a good balance point where my bulk should be hardly anything at all! I'll bet you're quite strong, too, Shuri! We can do it!" He laughed as he found the basket. "I believe in you!"

"Well, as long as I get a good push, we'll travel pretty far on momentum alone," Shuri said. "Stopping you again might be a little more difficult."

"I am very aerodynamic," Sidon said proudly with a bark of a laugh. "Well, hydrodymatic, technically speaking, but it's the same principle! And I say...let's not worry about stopping...until we need to stop!"

In a more just world, they would be winning this thing on the sheer force of running everyone off the course alone!

"We'll get to that part after we get the balls," Shuri declared. "Ready to get pushed? I'm going to take a running start."

This game, as most games for these things did, caused a disgruntled growl to roll around in the back of Wayne's throat for a moment before he found Alara, nodded to her, and then went to get himself centered on that scooter.

"Well," he said, lifting his legs and reaching for the basket, and trying to make himself seem lighter out of a clear underestimation of Alara's strength, "pitter patter. Let's get at 'er."

He was mostly just glad that Shuri had to push around a giant shark man during this round so she couldn't spend too much of her time witnessing this and/or taking pictures of it.

“Er, right,” Alara said rather awkwardly as she went for Wayne’s legs so they could start the activity.

It was turning out with these activities that strength wise, she had no problem but that the actual pushing in the right direction part was, as she had found out with that wheelbarrow race.
