There weren't any popsicle sticks this week, but there were a variety of buckets, white t-shirts, and rubberbands. And yes, somehow glitter too. They had stopped asking why and just given in to the crafting STD.

"It's time to try out tie-dying! Which I want to say is a throw-back to a throw-back fashionwise, but I'm not the expert here," Tony said.

"Don't look at me," Steve laughed, holding his hands up. "I've been reliably told that I should not be allowed to pick out my own clothes."

Because plaid and pleated khakis were crimes, Steve.

"Today we're going to dye some shirts," he added. "We have a few we've acquired from Dean Skywalker's Wednesday games if you are looking to start with something with a color already--" or to have some therapy via destroying those shirts, "--but tie dye works best on white."

"You use the rubberbands to create spots where the dye doesn't reach by twisting up the fabric and cinching it to create patterns. There are also gloves because no one needs to leave here with bright pink hands," Tony said quickly. "Please use the gloves."

Steve ruefully held up his blue-tinged fingers. "Please," he echoed. "Now pick out your shirts and then I'll demonstrate some tying techniques."

And hopefully your shirts won't turn out weird and brown.

There was a selection of bright colors to choose between. And yes, it could somehow end up brown. Or gray. It was a fickle thing.

Did Amaya consider just putting these over the gloves she was currently wearing?

Why, yes. Yes, she did. And she thought that was very funny.

But she didn't, because she didn't want to mess up her gloves.

You know, the work gloves with a fine patina of oil and grease worked into them.

She also thought that was funny.

And she wondered, as she picked out some shirts and got to tying, if there'd be any offence toward Tony and Steve if she just wound up using these for rags later. It didn't really match her whole ~aesthetic~. But they were sort of fun to make.

Astrid loved this. Not only because it was one of those quintessential summer things that she'd always miss out on as a kid, but any opportunity to work with new mediums and play with colors was a good day in her book.

She knew bright colors were the go-to for tie-dye, but she was definitely leaning more towards seeing what sort of effects she could create with the use of darker ombre for more shadow and depth.

Stark had no idea how to make specific patterns or anything so he was kind of just randomly adding rubberbands and hoping for the best.

Blue and purple and yellow were the colors of the choice for the day. Would it turn out looking ridiculous? Probably. But then bright colors were never really his style.

One of them had blue hands, the other had worn gloves.

Steve had his blue tinged hands, but he also, unfurling it, had a white t-shirt with a tie-dyed Cap shield in the center of it.

He was so proud of himself.

Aaaaand Tony's shirt was brown.

"It's more art than science," he muttered. Because that wasn't fair, damn it. Yellow and red should have worked better than this.
