Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

The good weather continued throughout the day, making it very comfortable to be out on the lawn. Who would want to miss such a nice picnic?

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"It's very nice to meet you, Karolina," Freya nodded. "I'm Freya. Freya of Burmecia. I'm...apparently a student at the school..."

It would have been nice if her ticket had mentioned that, really, though she didn't think this was going to last very long, anyway. She wasn't feeling so sure this school could teach her anything useful at the moment, especially when the one thing she wanted to learn didn't seem to be something that would be learned here.

"Very nice to meet you, too, Freya," Karolina replied with a smile. "It's probably gonna be a little weird for a while?"

Really, she would've said that even if Freya hadn't seemed a little uncertain about why she was even here.

"So I have a welcome gift for you."

She pulled out a small, glittery gift bag from her basket, then held it out to Freya. Inside it were a map of the island, another of where all the classrooms were located in the school, a vegan chocolate bar, and a small handwritten card with Karolina's contact info.

"Oh," said Freya, blinking a moment in surprise and tentatively reaching out to take the bag with a surprise delicateness with the size of her paws. "That's...very appreciated. Everyone here has certainly been friendly; I do feel very welcome..."

Confused, but welcome. All signs pointed to this not being where she should be right now, but with all these kind gestures and the fact that she'd apparently been expected, made her believe there was much more to this than could be found right on the surface.

She considered the bag a moment longer before opening it up and shifting around the contents to see what was inside.

"That's good!" Karolina replied brightly. "I know this place can be a lot to get used to."

She nodded at the bag.

"There are some maps in there to help you get around the island and the school. And all of my info, 'cause I'm available for whatever you need." A beat. "Also there's a snack, because everyone needs those."

"So not only thoughtful," Freya noted, "but useful as well."

And she had a moment, where there was a bit of a tug-of-war between the soon-to-be-sixteen-year-old girl in her and the warrior dragon knight in her that couldn't decide which to take to more, the map of the island, or the chocolate.

This time, the chocolate won. After all, there'd be plenty of time to pour over the map later when she could actually focus on it and explore like she was planning to once this picnic was over.

She looked at the candy thoughtfully, though her mind wasn't exactly on it.

"Whatever I need?" she asked, looking back to Karolina. "If that is the case....might I ask you a favor, Karolina?"

"If any other Burmecians such as myself do happen to arrive," said Freya, "please let me know. I'm looking for someone, and I came here hoping to find him, but it seems to have been a red herring so far. I suppose it's still early, though. His name is Sir Fratley, he's a dragon knight like me as well, so if you hear anything about him, anything at all, even a whisper...please let me know."

Now, this nod was almost painfully earnest.

"Oh, absolutely!" Karolina said. "Sir Fratley, got it. I don't think I've heard of anyone by that name here yet, no --" And yes, she looked almost apologetic about that. "-- but I'll keep an eye... or, well, I guess an ear out for him, too."
