Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

The good weather continued throughout the day, making it very comfortable to be out on the lawn. Who would want to miss such a nice picnic?

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Rey liked the picnics. She never did much at them, but it was nice to see everyone else together all in one place. She had a plate of food because of course she did, and hung out by the picnic tables, happy to just watch.

"I still can't get over how much food there is."

That was as good a greeting as any. Octavia was pretty sure Rey felt the same way.

"I'm bringing some home," Rey admitted, which she felt probably could have gone without saying. "I'm sure that's half the reason why they put out so much."

She'd at least developed manners about it, too, now that she wasn't starving all the time.

Octavia patted the bag over her shoulder. "I always take food with me from these things," she said. "I think we'd be fools not to."

"Absolutely," Rey agreed. It wasn't like she cooked. Her kitchen was stocked but she looked like a doomsday prepper. "How've you been?"

Octavia sighed. "Well, you've probably heard of this week's bullshit, right?"

She didn't have a better word for it.

"Yeah, I heard. I went looking for Duke and saw Larceny for a bit while it was going on," she nodded.

Bullshit. Complete and total bullshit, but she'd said that already.

"New guy on the island just wanted to make enemies right off the bat, I guess."

Which didn't make the arrest right, but Rey totally understood how it happened.

Octavia was less understanding. Surprising no one.

"Not a great start, either way."

"Definitely not. But at least he probably won't be living it down anytime soon," she said.

Which she wouldn't, but they didn't know that yet!

Octavia sighed.

"Anyway. Anything new with you?"

"Not too much. I went home for a few days just to check in. Everything's mostly been work or training for me."

Which was exciting for her, but she didn't think it would be to other people.
