Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

The good weather continued throughout the day, making it very comfortable to be out on the lawn. Who would want to miss such a nice picnic?

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

So this was a welcome picnic! Did Alexis need to stay for long?

Until she made a break for it, anyway, Alexis would be the fabulous-looking girl sitting and watching and questioning just how many people here didn't look human now that she saw them all in one spot, but she'd also seen way weirder stuff, so she wasn't judging.

...Anymore. She'd judged a little at the airport.

So yeah, Alexis had been enrolled at the school all spring, but Karolina had sort of assumed they'd never see her again. Even when her name had landed on Karolina's 'new kids' list for today, she'd mostly ignored it, figuring she'd gone the way of the rest of the spring term's newbies, never to be seen again.

So she was a little bit surprised, right now.

"... Alexis?"

"Nooot really?" Karolina replied slowly. "We've met. Um." A beat. "In the volcano."

... Unless this was a wholly different Alexis, which was a possibility that was just now occurring to Karolina.

"Oh, right!" she said, as casually as if she'd said hi to her at a party or something. "How've you been?"

Alexis had clearly adjusted just fine.

Yeah, Karolina suddenly felt like Alexis may have been made for Fandom.

Although the 'seducing Krampus' thing was still pretty wild even for this place.

"Just fine, thanks," she said. "We haven't had more kidnappings happen this year." Not a thing she would say to the other new students, no. "I noticed you've been enrolled here all spring...?"

"Oh, yeah," Alexis said with a wave of her hand. "But like, I went to blow off some steam, and there was this guy, and some yacht theft, and long story short, I'm back now."

No, she didn't realize Karolina's job.

"Well... Good."

There was definitely a decision of some kind that happened between those two words.

"Well, I'm the counselor at this school, so, if any of that feels like something you ever wanna talk about, I'm available." She reached into the basket on her arm. "I also have a little welcome gift for you? Even though you've technically been with us for a while."

No, she hadn't thought Alexis would show, but she'd brought extras just in case the paperwork was faulty and some other kids showed up unannounced.

Karolina pulled out a small, glittery gift bag, which she then held out for Alexis to take.

"Here you go! Welcome back."

Inside the bag were a map of the island, another of where all the classrooms were located in the school, a vegan chocolate bar, and a handwritten little card with Karolina's contact info on it.

Alexis actually very quietly squealed a little bit as she took the bag and peeked inside.

"This is actually really helpful," she said. Who knew how much she'd go to classes, but still!

Karolina's smile widened at that reaction. She couldn't help looking pleased.

"I hope it is, that's the idea," she said. "And if you end up running into a problem, my card's in there so you'll know how to get in touch."
