"Good day, class," Anakin said. "Since we didn't have small, unasked for children show up after Valentine's Day, that generally means they are showing up this weekend. So today we will talk about basic childcare needs and why they aren't really just hungry for fruit snacks, fish crackers, and juice boxes."

He waved his hands at the two children already in the room. "Say hello to Juliet and Christopher, my children. They'd both showed up over these weekends long before my wife and I had even considered the possibility of children, and apparently telling them not to jump through strange portals never really sunk in."

Juliet shrugged and continued her coloring.

"The important part for the weekend is to make the children, no matter how unlikely in this reality, feel loved and appreciated before they go back." Anakin sighed heavily. "Even the teenagers. Even when they are being especially trying. So today you get to work on making craft projects with popsicle sticks, setting blocks on inappropriate-for-five year olds apps, and hiding the pudding cups."

You know, sex education. Kind of.

It... it was probably best not to ask how Nina had known the kids were going to be in class today.

But she grinned around the door.

"I come bearing treats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"Treats!" Juliet shrieked like the sort of sugared-up person who'd been sneaking fruit snacks all period.

Nina was the worst enabler as she wandered in with a bag of cookies and a tray of drinks.

"Hot chocolate for you and your brother," she said cheerfully, making sure they got the right drinks. "And coffee for your dad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Because he was going to need the caffeine.

"Thank you!" Juliet shrieked as Anakin winced. "Inside voices!"

"You're welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Make sure you share the cookies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Nina was, ah, never going to be an enforcer of indoor-voices.

Nina grinned unrepentantly at Bus Dean as she offered him his coffee. "Sorry????????????????????" she tried.

She was not sorry.

"You don't seem all that sincere," Anakin noted but he took the coffee anyway, smiling softly.

"I've been more sincere in my lifetime," of fifteen whole years, "but I've also been less sincere................."

So, really...

Anakin burst out laughing. "Very well put."

Nina giggled, pleased that she'd made him laugh.

""Do you really think kids will show up after pajama prom??????????????????????"

Anakin nodded. "Probably."

Nina sighed, a bit wistfully.

"I wonder if I'll get kids this year...............," she mused.

"Would you like one?" Anakin asked.

"I'm usually, like, dead in anything to do with the future," Nina admitted quietly, so the kids wouldn't hear. "But, yeah, I'd like one.............. I'd like a family, you know????????????"

Well that was a horrifically depressing thought.

"Well, you can borrow Juliet and Christopher," Anakin said. "Assuming they don't jump into a portal."

She giggled.

"Does that mean, like, they could disappear for a weekend????????????????" she asked, fascinated. "Going off to visit a younger you and Rory??????????????????????????"

"Well, they haven't yet, but we weren't living on the island before, either," Anakin said, giving his kids a suspicious look.
