"Welcome back," Seivarden said, standing in the front of the class as if they were a group of baby Lieutenants she had been given command over. She gestured towards the bag filled with a selection of gloves (none of them Mae-shaped, sadly).

 

"Unless you have brought your own, find a suitable pair."

 

She continued: "Last week I asked you about your tea preferences. Some of you had good taste, others not so much. Today we're going to make proper tea."

 

On the table in front of her were an arrangement of teapots, cups and bags of different kinds of tea.

 

"Sadly it is impossible to get proper tea flasks here, but these pots will do. Pick a tea you like, brew it according to the instructions and then describe the result and your reflections."

Lana grinned. "Mae, you are always hot." She obediently pointed the thermometer at her, though, and showed her the results.

"Damn right!" Mae didn't really think that, but she was happy enough to play along. "We should measure more things. Liiiiiiiike . . . that!" She pointed at a random object halfway across the room.

Yes, she was probably going to want to measure the temperature of everything in here. You've created a monster, Lana.

"I think you have to get a bit closer," Lana said. She eyed the thing. "I wonder if I could boost its power. I'll have to look into that. It's very short-range, though."

She measured Mae's desk instead.

Lana grinned. "I'll see what I can do. I think they already have weapons here that will do that, but they use wires, which seems terribly awkward."
