[unusual_sith]

Lana came in and greeted the books cheerfully, but she was a Sith on a mission today. After class on Friday, she was determined to learn as much as she could about both her galaxy's and Earth's tea, mostly so she could troll the instructor, who seemed far too hung up on her own notions of what was civilized.

So, today she was ensconced in a chair with a datapad reading about everything from Tarine and Deychin, and on the internet from Zĭjuān to Alishan. It was actually really fascinating.

The library was open!

It had been a week. The kind of week where Sabine hasn't even managed to get the usual post-island trauma mural on a warehouse wall yet. Which might be in the cards later today, but for now, she could stop in for a bit.

"You look busy."

Lana looked up and smiled. "Nothing I can't interrupt; just a personal project." She cocked her head at Sabine. "You look tired. Long week?"

"Long week," she confirmed, coming over. "You know how it is, mass kidnappings, I get my roommate back, the start of classes..."

"That's a good two out of three, anyway," Lana answered wryly. "How is Astrid? I haven't had a chance to talk to her yet."

"Quiet," Sabine said after a moment. "I think coming back, and coming into all that was maybe a lot for her."

She hadn't quite figured out how to talk to her about it yet.

"I imagine it would be," Lana said. "This island is ridiculous. What about you - what classes are you taking?"

"Criminal Justice, Creative Thinking, Blood Stain Removal, and Advanced Bird Haberdashery."

...She liked it, okay, it was utterly stupid and she ended up liking it anyway.

"I'm hoping the blood stain class will be useful," Lana said. "I don't imagine the bird hats will be, but hopefully it'll be fun and artistic?"

"Last week we put hats on porgs. It was actually kind of a good way to decompress, actually."

Because fun and artistic.

...and porgs.

"I'm not sure the teacher thought so, but I did, anyway."

"Why wouldn't he think so?" Lana asked. "He's not serious about bird hats, is he? Also please tell me you got holos or pictures."

"He was in the volcano. I think he was having a bad day." It wasn't that Sabine was unsympathetic, she was just way better at repressing.

She was already getting out her phone to show Lana the pictures of a porg in a little severely-decorated paper hat, though.

"I'm maybe not the best at constructing hats. But they still look good."

"Oh, Force." Lana snickered. "Those are adorable. I'm almost sorry I'm not in that class."

"I'll make sure you get pictures," Sabine promised. "What are you in?"

"Oh, leadership, bloodstains, and being civilized." It seemed like a very Sith course load.

She smirked. "The instructor for that last one is terribly judgmental. I'm studying how to make them regret it."

"I have absolute faith in you," Sabine told her. "Any ideas yet?"

"One or two," Lana admitted, grinning. "I'm always up for more suggestions, though."

"Who's the judgmental professor?" Sabine asked.

She had a feeling, just by the adjective.

"Seivarden Vendaai," Lana said. "Sounds like she's from a different galaxy than this one or ours. Apparently milk in tea is scandalous." She rolled her eyes.

"By the way, if the subject ever comes up, even hutts take their tea with milk."

"I'm going to remember that." It'd be a conversation starter! "Ohhh, that's the one that had the tea wars. What happens if you bring coffee to class?"

"I have no idea if it's true," Lana cautioned. "And I haven't tried bringing coffee, though I may have to. Tea wars?"

"I remember hearing about there being some thing about tea not being right, even at places that serve tea professionally," Sabine shrugged. "Not really something I can get mad about either way but sometimes I encourage chaos."

"Sometimes chaos needs to be encouraged," Lana agreed with a grin. "It wouldn't surprise me, though. Honestly, the face she made when she insisted tea is not to be taken with milk or sugar!" She demonstrated the supercilious look.

"Very nice," Sabine told her. "Do personal preferences not exist where she comes from?"

"Apparently not." Lana rolled her eyes. "I wonder if she'd have the same reaction to blue milk Wayne does. I really should start importing more of it."

"I'm pretty sure a blue milk latte is achievable," Sabine said.

"I wouldn't know how to make one, but I could try bringing it to the Perk and tipping really well," Lana said, thinking about it. "It would probably taste amazing."

"There might be a way to make one in the dorms. Maybe someone's got a machine?" Was she going to look up how to do this? Naturally.

"Maybe? It seems like it'd be a bit large to keep in a room, though." Lana shrugged. "Still, it couldn't hurt to ask around, I suppose."

"It couldn't. Mainly because I want to try one," Sabine admitted.

Lana grinned. "I'll bring you one. You work on Thursdays, right?"

Not that she had noticed or anything.

"Every week barring a crisis." And it would even get posted!

"So, once a month or so?" Lana asked dryly. "Barring a crisis, I'll be there as soon as I can get the milk from home."
