Phys Ed, Thursday, Period Two
"Happy Halloween, if that's your thing," Liam greeted the students as they arrived at the Danger Shop. Today's weirdness seemed to be pretty benign, but yesterday's had the teachers thinking that perhaps today's class ought to be spent on something like basic self defense.
They had spent an unconscionable amount of time searching for the gym in the school after radio had announced Lucifer had found one, but apparently the school was continuing to hide it from them. And so they were back in the Danger Shop, currently set up to look like a self-defense studio. "Usually," Verity continued, tying her hair back, "Halloween is meant to bring candy to people who dress up and go trick-or-treating, but sometimes it brings you...clowns. Killer clowns. Or maybe guys in creepy masks or with knife gloves."
"... Right," Liam said slowly, because those seemed like very specific examples.Look, he wasn't old enough to watch horror movies, okay? Don't judge.
Verity had really fallen down on the pre-Halloween celebrations, hadn't she? For shame. "So, today, we're covering some of the basics of defending yourself and your property from whatever random serial killers drag themselves out of various haunted summer camps or whatever." She paused and sighed. "Well, that's what we've decided to do. Who knows what's actually going to happen."
In Verity's defense, the last couple weeks had been pretty busy. She could be forgiven for not having the time to introduce Liam to traditional Halloween cinema.
With a somewhat resigned look, Liam pressed the button to start the simulation.
