"Good morning, students-- including ones I don't recognize..."

Anyone who'd been hoping to see their teacher with curves would have to go home disappointed. Lucifer was an angel; he looked however he felt at any point in time, and right now, he felt like a mopey, still-depressed Lucifer.

"Before we head on to interrogate some suspects and witnesses from the rickshaw case, I'd like you all to get some practice on interrogation technique," he said. He clapped his hands. "Half of you are criminals. You may take your crimes from the crime jar."

He gestured, helpfully, to the crime jar.

"The other half of you must interrogate the other person and attempt to determine what crime has been committed based only on the evidence mentioned on the back of the crime note."

He clapped his hands. "Go on. Torture each other into giving up the goods."

Illyana looked down at her note. "Huh, go figure," she mused. "Apparently someone found a mural saying unpleasant things about police officers, and a can of purple paint."

"I see, I see," said Prompto, nodding a little, stroking his (so soft, so smooth!) chin thoughtfully with narrowed eyes. "And what, perchance, were those unpleasant things exactly, I wonder....?"

"The note with your clue doesn't say," she pointed out cheerfully. "Shouldn't you know, if you're questioning people about it?"

"Oh I know," Prompto assured her. "I was just determining whether or not you did. Do you, or do you not, know what the mural said?"

"I do not know exactly what the mural says, no," Illyana replied primly, staring Prompto down. It was even the truth: her note did not say specifically what the mural said, and Illyana could think of a number of unflattering things she could have written. How could she pick just one?

Which meant it was time for one of her favorite things she'd learned while residing in New York: "Am I free to leave, or am I being detained?"
