Trevor didn't really want to know why someone had left behind an arsonist's toolkit in the library. He really didn't.

But he was going to get it out if the library, grumbling to himself the entire time. Which might have left him in a pisspoor mood as he shelved books with the remaining time left there.

Keyleth's player actually had time to breathe today managed to make it in on her lunch break today!

And she had a box of the most aggressively brightly decorated, cheerful sugar cookies in existence.

"Hi, Trevor!" she practically chirped.

Aren't you glad you encouraged this, Trevor?

"Keyleth," he replied, totally wincing at that level of cheer. Was it the sugar that got her there? Was it? He had so many questions.

Also regrets.

Because now he had to return the favor. Ugh.

"I have to go back to work in half an hour," Keyleth informed him, so he at least had that sliver of hope to cling to, "but I thought you could use a midday snack."

Of pure cheer in cookie form.

She didn't need the sugar to get there, Trevor. Be afraid.

"Me? No," she said with a laugh. "I just picked them up in town on my way here."

Wait until she co-owned a bakery someday though, Trevor. You might get regular deliveries.

"Then you won't be mad if I say these look like a rainbow shit on them."

It was actually a joke! He told a joke!

". . oh my gosh." Yeah, Keyleth was kind of staring at him now. "Trevor, were you being funny just now?"

He was kind of bad at them without the whole situational humor thing going for him. "Well, it's true."

"You know, they really kind of do," Keyleth admitted. "That's probably why they got my attention in the bakery. But they taste fine! I might've tried . . . a few on my way."

Okay, so part of the demeanor was sugar.

Trevor tried to suppress a smile at that, managing a smirk instead to express how he was pleased with himself on the joke landing. "Alright, I'll give on a try. Thanks."

Keyleth was so proud of him for that!

"I know it can get kind of lonely and maybe a little boring being at work all day," she said with a little smile. "So I thought maybe cookies could break that up a little bit."

Trevor had a cookie shoved halfway in his mouth at that point. "Thanks," he said around it.

Apparently it was good because damned if he was gonna stop eating it for that.
