The weather was warm, the food smelled good, and there was a good chance the new folks were a little extra glittery. What else could go into a perfect day for the picnic?

Liam... thought about lying. But then decided there wasn't much point. The scratches he'd gouged into his neck were mostly healed, but still there, if you looked. Not to mention he was trying to make an effort to stop accepting these sorts of things as normal, something he just deserved as part of his existence. A shrug.

"Better than I was," he offered. The aftermath of that week as a toy had been- 'difficult' wasn't quite enough to encapsulate it.

Octavia was the type to take note of visible injuries. So yeah, she'd noticed - but also that they were healing okay.

"Good," she said, nodding. "It sounds like it was a rough time."

Octavia shrugged. "Raccoons don't care about disasters, I guess," she said. "Not that Bel would've let me out, anyway."

Well. Some raccoons didn't. The ones that lived by the boardwalk and ran a brewery? They probably did, at least if it impacted their business.

"Bet you made an adorable toy raccoon though," Liam said, with the slightest hint of a smile.

Did he want a mildly withering look? Because he was getting a mildly withering look. "That's not a word I would use."

"Okay, okay, I'm sure you were not in the least adorable," he conceded, taking a half-step back.

"That's better," Octavia told him, grumpily.

If he missed the little twitch of her lips, that was.
