Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

The weather was warm, the food smelled good, and there was a good chance the new folks were a little extra glittery. What else could go into a perfect day for the picnic?

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"No matter how it turns out now that's, like, also going to be how I picture it going down too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"I knew you'd be able to appreciate my vision," said Prompto, chuckling, grinning crookedly at her. "But, seriously, you guys did a great job. We gotta really think of something big to do for the spring semester."

Especially since it was probably going to be his last one, but they didn't need to think about that.

"Did you get all my pictures of the big boy's birthday bash??"

"I'm so tired," she admitted, giggling. "It took ages to get it just right and then I was too wound up to sleep and then oh my gooooooooooooosh your pictures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Those... those had not helped her sleep.

"You all looked so good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Everything had looked so good!

Prompto's grin took on a sheepish sort of quality as he chuckled. "I'll have to pass on the good news to the boys," he said, and then laughed again, shaking his head. "It was...I'm not even sure the pictures could even do it justice, Nina, they really went all out. Noctis hated it, of course, Ignis spent the whole time fussing over everything, and you know that's the first time I've ever actually been in the Citadel?" He shook his head, stars in his eyes just remembering it, even if the end of the evening did dampen it a little, but he was trying to focus on the rest of it. "Amazing. Absolutely amazing."

"It looked amazing," she said and was proud of herself for not sounding wistful or disgustingly envious that he'd gotten to go and she hadn't. (She was both, even though she also totally understood... feelings were stupid.) "Poor Noctis, though, having a birthday party that he hates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"Yeah, right," Prompto definitely knew where Nina was coming from with that, but he still had to snort a little. After all, Prompto had never even had a birthday party before, not unless you counted his sad little birthday cupcakes by himself. "It must be so hard on him...."

He was just shy of rolling his eyes, but he shook his head a little, because he definitely didn't mean anything malicious by it.

"Seriously, though," he added, "we really do need to get on planning that other party for him, now that everything'll hopefully get settled in for fall and stuff."

Nina... Nina would definitely not have turned down a birthday ball for herself either, so she wasn't as sympathetic as she could have been. Especially since, like, at least Noctis had family that loved him enough to do that for him!

She blinked.

"Oh!!!!!!!!! That!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just, like, can you find out what dates would be good for him and the guys????????????????????" she asked, since it would probably go better and be met with less suspicion than if Nina just tracked down that information herself. "Sidon and I have, like, totally got the whole party covered!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"You and Sidon?" Prompto asked, with a surprised, but amused, chuckle. "Really? When did this all happen?"

"We were just, like, watching Beaker cook something horrifying in a common room one day and it came up?????????????????? And we were all, like, well obviously if we planned the party it would be totally great and also one less thing for you to worry about, so............??????????????????"

Had they been wrong? Had they over-stepped?

"....awwww," said Prompto, who couldn't help grinning a little bit at that. "So what'd you guys come up with?"

He was really, really hoping the fact that this occurred while Beaker was cooking something horrifying was completely unrelated, though.

Luckily, it really was unrelated to the horrifying apparently edible thing Beaker had been working on!

"Like, oh my gosh," she said, clapping her hands together. "We were all, like, 'what kind of party would work for him?' and we also, like, talked about how it'd be better if it was the sort of party he got because, like, you're friends with him and not because he's a prince, and then Sidon was all like, 'oh my gosh, Nina, I have a brilliant idea!' and so we were, if you were okay with it, thinking that wouldn't it be really, really fun to have it in Zora's Domain????????????????????? Sidon, like, wants to meet him, and it'd be a totally unique place that the only reason he'd ever get to go is because you and Sidon are, like, super friends, and the Zora are pretty, like, chill so he wouldn't be all trapped in pomp and circumstance....................."

Prompto listened carefully, ready to work through a bunch of Nina-esque punctuation, tangents, and digressions to pick out all the important details, and he couldn't help grinning a little at the idea of Sidon saying oh my gosh, and, when she finished, his grin remained and he added a snort.

"You said this was Sidon's brilliant idea?" he asked. "Because, if you ask me, it sounds a lot more like someone just thinking of an excuse to get Gladio in a pair of swim trunks."

Which, really. Nina. Unnecessary. That guy was, like, legit allergic to shirts pretty much half the time.

He really was and it was fantastic and, really, if a guy looked like Gladio then being shirtless was more, like, a gift to everyone else...

Nina blushed pink.

"It was, like, totally Sidon's idea!!!!!!!!!!!" she protested. "Rude, Prompto!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

But, uh. She was not going to deny the appeal...
