Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

The weather was warm, the food smelled good, and there was a good chance the new folks were a little extra glittery. What else could go into a perfect day for the picnic?

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"As well as can be expected," Hernando smiled and turned toward Dr. Lecter, "My eventual destination is Sparkle's shop. I borrowed his keys to it so I could leave some surprises for him tomorrow. Hello, Dr. Lecter. How have you been?"

There were quite a few adorable kitten printouts in that bag, yes.

"I've been quite well," Hannibal said. "Tentatively considering spending more time here now the island has calmed down somewhat. Teaching cooking again this term. How is your shop now the extended oddness is over?"

"I am glad to hear you're well. The shop is doing nicely, now that the strange changes have stopped. It seems quite happy to have us back. Dave is as grumpy as ever but even he seems pleased. The AirBnB was quite enjoyable but I, too, am glad to be home," Hernando answered.

He offered Hannibal a lopsided smile, "Even if this fall looks to become stress of another sort. I've begun looking into guest lecturer positions in Toronto and so far the reception has been positive. I may become an island commuter very shortly. Establishing residency, of a sort."

He figured Hannibal would understand why. He was, after all, helping Sparkle with the lawyer parts.

Hannibal nodded. "I expect that will be a great help. I can visit, but I already have commitments here and in Jono's New York."

Which meant if worse came to worst, he could probably get some x-men to break Sparkle out, but Hannibal had faith in his lawyers.

"Should either of you need anything, please know you have only to ask. And remember that this stress has a decisive end point, even if we don't yet know when that will be."

"I think that's the worry," Hernando offered quietly, "We're all thinking about it ending in our favor but.. one way or the other, it will end. A residency will help the argument for conditional release. I.. do not know what we will do if they turn it down."

It was worrying the hell out of him, to be honest.

"They won't," Hannibal said. He was confident of that. "Those lawyers are very good."

"Good," Hernando said with relief, "They will have to be. This is going to be a war not of fact, not where Lewis Chance is concerned. The other fight is the easier one but this one? This one is going to get .. very ugly."

"Very likely," Hannibal agreed. "But we will not be afraid to get ugly on Sparkle's behalf, either."

He was already working out plans to ensure Lewis Chance couldn't find even a halfway-decent attorney.
