Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

The weather was warm, the food smelled good, and there was a good chance the new folks were a little extra glittery. What else could go into a perfect day for the picnic?

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

What use were nametags when you had an Intelligence score of 6 anyway?

"No, I just don't remember ever seeing you before today," Keyleth told him. "And you . . . kind of stick out a bit? I'm pretty sure I'd have noticed a goliath wandering around campus before."

. . . she did pause and look to see if someone had stuck a nametag on him, and so far, it looked like they hadn't.

"I'm kinda used to sticking out, I'm one of the only goliaths at home too. My buddy Pike says it's because I'm special, but I think she just likes saying nice things," he said. "I'm Grog."

"Your friend Pike sounds neat. Hi, Grog!" She waved at him again, like a dork. "I'm Keyleth. Where are you from that there aren't a lot of goliaths, if you don't mind my asking?"

Didn't they tend to cluster in tribes? She thought she remembered that from her studies.

"Well, I was in Westruun before I got here, but I haven't been there for too long," Grog explained. "It's a pretty big city so most of the herds stay away 'cause they've got guards and stuff."

"Westruun?" Keyleth asked, her eyes going a little bit wider. "I've heard of that city!"

"You have? Nobody else knows what I'm talking about," Grog said. "Did you touch a shiny thing to get here too? I didn't mean to, but then I went from one woods to a different woods and now I'm here."

"I've never been there, but I've heard of it," Keyleth clarified. "Hard not to! It's only one of the biggest cities in Tal'Dorei, right? I'm from -- well, you probably wouldn't have heard of Zephrah, it's a little bit isolated."

She tilted her head slightly, trying to figure out what the 'shiny thing' could have been.

"I -- no, I came through a tree to get here. Are you saying you ended up here by accident?"

If she realized she was the only member of Fandom's Exandrian contingent to have actually come here intentionally, she might get a complex about it.

"Yeah, I didn't mean to be here, but people were like, expecting me? Like, I've got a roommate and someone who tried to tell me where we were and knew my name before I even said it," Grog said. "I'm, uh, not sure about the whole school part."
