Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II
The weather was warm, the food smelled good, and there was a good chance the new folks were a little extra glittery. What else could go into a perfect day for the picnic?
[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"Yeah, it was a whole thing. The fingerless motorcycle gloves included," Jack said. "I don't sleep much and the music video channel does a thing where they do music from this era kind of a lot. It's neat."

"Reading takes effort," Jack shrugged, "If you don't pay attention to the words you don't understand the story later. Videos are easy. I can sit there and just kind of let the music happen and be entertained."
Re: General Mingling [Fall 2019]
“Makes sense,” he admitted. “I just don’t want to deal with grumbling if I wake Verity up.” Yeah he could go into the living room if he really wanted, but... bed was comfortable, so why bother?
[ooc: am off to work now, pings will be sloooow.]
Re: General Mingling [Fall 2019]
"That's why I don't have a roommate," Jack agreed, "Except if you count the occasional Kaidan, not that that asshole sleeps any more than I do. When he's even on this goddamn planet, which he ain't right now."
She was a little worried and trying not to show it. He was off doing a thing and the anticipation of knowing what the results of the thing were had her just about doing the ants in her pants dance. Not that it showed physically.
"Fair, though. Nice to be considerate like that."
[ooc: Is okay.]
Re: General Mingling [Fall 2019]
"He doing okay?" Where 'okay' was relative, of course.
Re: General Mingling [Fall 2019]
Jack snorted, "Is he ever? No, he's pretty fucked up right now and he might be even more fucked up when he gets back, but the reason he's offworld right now is because he's back home doing his fuckin' job. Politics, man. It's why they pay him the big bucks."
Vroom, Kaidan, because yes she would absolutely throw you right under the bus of every single one of your friends so you couldn't pull down the 'I'm fine' mask.
"The thing a few weeks back? Where you'd walk through a goddamn door and wind up somewhere else? One of 'em took us back to the fucking war. Our war. The one as been fuckin' over for almost two years now. Kaidan bein' Kaidan, he didn't sit around with his thumb up his ass and watch. We did a thing. Got back here and he had to turn right back around and take the first portal back home to make sure we didn't fuck up our galaxy and see if maybe we unfucked something." She shrugged, "Won't know until he gets back whether it worked. If it did, it'll be a good. If not.. well, shit. We did good for that other fuckin' mirror world and it sure as hell beat stickin' around watching my friends die again."
Hi. Jack was kind of trying not to bite her fingernails off about that whole thing. Trying not to hope.
"I'm kind of glad he wasn't here during the toy bullshit. He would have lost his fucking mind at that World War II jackbooted fucking thuggery."
They'd put his friends in front of a firing squad. If he'd been here, he'd either have been standing right next to them or doing something stupid to try and save them.
Re: General Mingling [Fall 2019]
He clamped down hard on the feelings that dredged up, because this was neither the time nor the place.
"Time travel can be tricky like that," Liam said with a knowing nod. Da'an's words, back when Liam had been new and still puzzling out how the world around him worked: The future can be changed, but only if fate will allow it. He'd changed the future he'd seen, for the better. Hopefully Kaidan had the same luck.
If not, well. Liam was here, and ready and willing to help deal with any sort of fallout, if Kaidan was up to letting him in.
Re: General Mingling [Fall 2019]
Jack lifted a shoulder in a shrug, "It's kind of fucking weird. The not knowing part. We did a thing, don't even know yet if it was in our own fucking reality. Like those thought exercises, if you could go back in time and change one thing, what would you change? Only made harder by adding 'the thing you change can't be noticed as a change until you return from the past'. So we were there and we couldn't save our friends. Couldn't save anyone else who we knew died in the war. I'd have gotten pissed off and said screw the rules and probably done something dumb anyway, you know? Even if it meant I puffed out of existence, if it saved one of mine. Worth it." A shake of her head, "Ain't how he thinks. It's scary how fast that asshole thinks sometimes. He went from 'shit we're back in the Reaper War' to 'and this is what we're doing and how we do it, move' in about two seconds. We maybe did some good. No; We did some good, just maybe for a mirror reality or some shit that ain't ours. But maybe ours."
Beat.
"I hate waiting. It's crap."
