Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The island was still thankfully, blissfully normal, so fingers were crossed that the picnic would go off without a hitch.

The weather was pleasant enough - sunny, but not so hot that people would melt outside - and all the decorations had been safely pulled out of storage. There were tables and chairs set up with blue and yellow balloons, a table for all the information the new students would need, and enough food to probably feed two islands. It was time to welcome some new folks, everyone!

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Magnus was amazing like that. It was part of being rustically hospitable.

"Heck yeah!" Magnus said, holding up a hand for a high-five. Continuing his time honored tradition of trying to do so with every god or god-like being he met.

It was a good thing no one had said that last bit out loud, narrative, or they would suddenly find themselves with a problem.

Lucifer made an amused noise. "I appreciate the gesture, but high fives are so last century. Come on," he said, sweeping towards the buffet table.

And leaving Magnus's high-five hanging. Rude.

Magnus gave himself that high-five because you can't leave a guy hanging.

"High-fives are eternal. Unless you explode when it happens. I won't judge you if you explode when it happens."

He'd totally judge you, Lucy.

Lucy ignored him right up until he got to the buffet. "Now," he said, "We just put, say... this soda in this flask of yours?"

He grabbed a... oh, no, not Fanta. Dr. Pepper?

"Gonna say boozy soda," Magnus said, offering him the tankard. "If not, Fantasy Costco owes me money."

"Excellent," Lucifer gushed, grabbing the tankard with an enthusiastic hand.

In went half the contents of that Dr. Pepper bottle.

He took an experimental sip.

It was the second sweetest possible alcohol he could have created. Only because it wasn't Cheerwine.

"Ammirite?"

Lucifer lowered the flask, looking thoughtful.

"You know, it's a bit as if someone dissolved an entire double-sized bag of skittles into a large bottle of vodka," he said.

He held it out to Magnus. "Go on, try it. It's magnificent."

If the Devil got a sugar rush off of this, it was all on you, Magnus.

DEAL WITH IT, FANDOM.

Magnus took a long swig because you had him at Skittles vodka. "We gotta try other ones."

"It's your turn to pick one," Lucifer said, greedily reaching for the flask again.

What? He couldn't actually get drunk, but he liked the taste!

"Ooo, how about RC or Josta?" Magnus, no.

"Gesundheit," Lucifer said, taking a big swig. "... Yes."

He held the flask out to Magnus again.

Paused.

Took another swig.

Then held it out.

"You're a certified party boy, huh?" Magnus said, taking it to try. "Ooo, this would be good for The Teens."

"I haven't been a boy anything in... oh, ever," Lucifer said cheerfully, "But otherwise, yes. And which teens? Because there seems to be something of a surplus."

"You know teens," Magnus said, waving his hand dismissively. "With their dabbing and Fortnite. And their alcoholic sodas."

He was so clued into teens.

"Please, dabbing's been over since they let any random cricketer go about and do it," sighed Lucifer, adjusting his jacket. "Hm. I suppose going for the grape juice would be a bit too old-fashioned..."

"Yeah, fuck those guys," Magnus said loyaly at the mention of a cricket. Yes, a cricket. "I dunno, are you Lutheran? Wait, no, that's grape Kool-Aid."

"Technically speaking I'm Lutheran, Presbyterian, Catholic, Calvinist, and a whole host of the other ones all at once," Lucifer mused. "And none of the above."

He was reaching for the... ah, lemonade.

"Who's for margaritas?"

"That's cool, I'm down with Istus," Magnus said, squinting at the lemonade. "I dunno. Spring Break isn't for a while and I'm not sure I wanna go to Fantasy Cabo."

"Well, that's disappointing," Lucifer sighed. "Hm... they do have some of that hipster flavored water with the mint in it... mojito?"

Magnus hummed, looking over the table. "I wanna say no, but I don't wanna yuck your yum here. Maybe we can do a daquiri instead."

"You see something with strawberries, by any chance?" Lucifer mused.

"Fanta it is, my man!" You know, it wasn't even unusual for him to have gone this long in a conversation without knowing the guy's name. Because that sort of thing is for other people.
