Summer Shenanigans, Wednesday, August 21, 2019

"Hello again, everyone!" Anakin yelled through the megaphone from his spot on a chair where he looked a little wan, but decidedly not dead. "Welcome to the last shenanigans of the summer. To commemorate us being done--" with everything. Anakin was so done with everything, "--we are going to do a couple of different relay races."

Yay, team building!

"There are t-shirts."

Of course.

"Please listen for your names!"

Re: Hula Hoop Hysteria

There was a saying, in Hyrule, that was often brought up in the face of something difficult, that involved comparing its difficulty to that of trying to fit a Royal Zora through a Hula Hoop...

In about two hundred years from now, such a task would be nigh impossible, but thank goodness for Sidon's extreme youth and still being a growing Zora! It certainly took some doing, especially with his height, working around the shape of his head, and having to deal with the fact that his limbs were hardly as evenly proportioned as his teammates'. But he supposed the good thing was that he could go first, so that the extra time it took for the hula hoop to get past those extra couple feet and get a little caught on his torso fins might hopefully be made up by the rest of the chain.

Rey did not know what this was! She wasn't actually terrible at it once she figured out how to do it, but it took a bit to figure out how to make the hoop thing work.

Meanwhile Kitty was trying to make up some time because she could kind of just pass the hula hoop through any body part that wasn't cooperating.

It was her default state, okay.

Yeah, okay, Liam was just going to look vaguely nauseous about the idea of holding hands with anyone, gloves or not.

"Anyone mind if I go first?" he asked, grabbing the hula hoop with one gloved hand and holding out the other so someone could (ugh) take hold of it.

"I know I wouldn't mind at all," offered Amaya. "I can go next, too, and then we'll let the kids pull it together for the end?"

Amaya and her also gloved hands.

If that might at least make things a little better for him.

Liam shot Amaya a grateful smile. Really, he knew, logically, he was maybe overreacting a little, but having that layer between himself and the rest of the world... he needed the small comfort and measure of control that provided right now.

That Amaya was also wearing gloves was reassuring, definitely. There'd be no chance of anything... accidentally... seeping through, that way.

"Sounds like a plan."

Also Liam was the tallest person on the team by a number of inches, so at least (much like Sidon's reasoning, albeit Liam definitely had an easier time there by far, being human-shaped) they could get his attempt to get through the hoop out of the way first.

"Sure." Lana grabbed Amaya's other hand. She could always defy gravity long enough to just jump through the thing.

Though she was a little distracted by the emotions coming off Liam, and wondering if she should say anything.

"Right," Paris said. "This is stupid but we can do it."

"This is definitely stupid," Aeryn said, not touching the second part.

"And we can do it," Paris said pointedly as she did a weird little dance to get the Hula Hoop around her legs.

"Yep." Hey, Hera had two extra limbs that weren't hampered by being held. She just scooped up the hoop and held it in place with her lekku as she stepped through it.

Sidon had nearly two feet on the person next in line (thanks, google!), so this....was going to take some doing.

And a lot of bending.

Or actually, how about he just went down on his knees? Ah, yes, that might work much better!

But again, he did have that whole 'elaborately finned to resemble a shark' head to navigate around as he tried passing the cups over it.

Good thing he would never mind getting a bit damp!

Was it cheating to use the war-gift to make sure that the cup stayed as steady as possible?

Nobody had explicitly said she couldn't, anyway. And besides, it wasn't as if she were able to keep it perfectly still. Just still enough that maybe they wouldn't get as drenched as they might have otherwise.

Re: Melon Madness

[personal profile] in_sidon_we_trust 2019-08-21 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
These challenges...were not designed to be easy for Zora, were they? Sidon did take heart in the fact that they didn't seem designed to be too easy for humans, either, but for someone so tall, Sidon's legs were actually fairly short, and only by the grace of the fact that his short legs were still probably about average height for legs in general was he able to even get this to work.

Of course, him being a bit naturally slippery didn't help much with the slipperiness of the watermelon, either.

He was grateful, yes again, for being the head of his line, so that his struggles would get out of the way at the beginning with the hopes of catching up, instead of toward the end. Best get the frustrations out first, he supposed!

"This isn't actually a thing people do for fun, right?" Shuri demanded to know from her teammates as she shoved a watermelon between her legs.
