Adaptability And You, Monday, 2nd Period
"You've had a whole day to recover from whatever trauma you might have encountered over the course of last week," Kanan said wryly. "So, welcome back to class."
A beat.
"One of the most important things to keep in mind about adaptability? Self-care. It's something I've been guilty of neglecting over the years myself. It's all too easy when your focus is going into survival to forget that you're a flesh-and-blood person with needs, both physical and emotional. So today, we're going to focus on that. Make a checklist of things to keep in mind about taking care of yourselves. And then run through it, each of you, to see if you've been doing those, yourself."
He turned around and wrote on the whiteboard - because yes, he was absolutely stealing Summer's 'danger shop classroom' program, in case he needed to conjure anything up today - Self-Care Checklist.
And then underlined it. Twice.
"We'll start with the basics for the survival of most living beings. Food. Water. Sleep. What else can you list off?"
A beat.
"And to help you with that first one, I've ordered pizza. Please, eat."
A beat.

Lecture!
Re: Lecture!
But she was, like, still going to snag a few slices of pizza and enjoy eating those because, seriously, she was allowed to overeat a little after a week of not eating due to being a toy.
Besides, it gave her something to pick at as she considered Grumpy Bus Driver's lecture.
Re: Lecture!
Re: Lecture!
"Did something bad happen?" She asked quietly and a little miserably. The word 'trauma' usually meant that.
Re: Lecture!
She'd still eat pizza.
Discuss!
What other things can you think of that are important for self-care? Have you been observing those things yourself? Do you agree with them all?
Re: Discuss!
Re: Discuss!
"I agree that friends are really important," she offered. "Like, so you know you're not alone??????"
Re: Discuss!
Re: Discuss!
"And, like, even if someone being there can't fix anything it can, at least, make it seem a little less bad, whatever you're upset about....."

Re: Discuss!
And any Zora who spent any significant time with Hylians (or various other non-Zora races and species as in Sidon's case) had to do so with coming to terms with the fact that there would almost always come a time when they would no longer be there, while the Zora would live on and on...
"I," said Sidon, throwing in a jovial wink of camaradie and agreement for Nina, "think that's much better, too!"
Make the most of being with the people you have while you still had them.
Re: Discuss!
So she just smiled, again, softly, with a little nod.
Re: Discuss!
Nina excused yesterday as, honestly, she really had spent most of the time sleeping, crying, or writing in her diary and that was totally fine so long as, like, she didn't spend just the next week doing nothing but that.

Re: Discuss!
"Supposed to? No," Kanan replied. "Different people respond to different things in different ways, and no two people necessarily had the same experience last week."
He shrugged. Speaking as someone who was almost publicly executed after spending a week thinking that one more connection he had left to the Jedi already had been, well. Kanan had some trauma he wasn't fully over yet, himself.
Re: Discuss!
So perhaps there was some deep trauma, but it had to fight a lot of layers of Okuyasu simplicity to peek out.
"Yeah, I know it was pretty weird. But hey, we all have all our bits back now," he said. "That's important. Helps you not take the little things for granted."
Re: Discuss!
Re: Discuss!
She was maybe scrutinizing everybody a bit to see who was traumatized.
Talk to Kanan!
Which is a great step up from about eight years of his life besides.
He's also here for you if you need anything at all.
