The park was decorated with balloons and streamers, and a life-sized board game set up in the grassy area:

But don't be fooled by the name of the game. Eric, your master of ceremonies for the day, wasn't sorry at all. "Anakin Skywalker has been unavoidably and indefinitely detained," Eric said into the Fisher Price karaoke machine he'd acquired, giggling unnervingly. "So today we'll just have to have lots of fun without him! Right everyone?"

Deciding the cheers weren't loud enough, Eric whipped out his angry eyes from his back and repeated himself. "RIGHT, EVERYONE?"

Around the park, the Army men who had been assigned to loiter around ~~menancingly~~ ~~in an anxiety-inducing way~~ to ensure Maximum Fun, took a few fun steps forward.

"Listen for your names!" Eric said. "You'll be on four teams in place of the pieces, which will make sliding into each other SO MUCH FUN. I, of course, will be moving you all around the board."

The metaphor for the week, it was not that subtle.

"And don't forget your shirts."

Rey wasn't exactly in a games mood, but she figured maybe she should be around in case there was anyone who might've had a horrifying epiphany over the last day or so. Just in case.

...Maybe she'd missed it a little, when the island wasn't being terrible.

Aeryn definitely had to come and watch! It was fun, but mostly she wanted to make sure everyone was having exactly the right amount of fun. No more, no less!

Not that it will matter because Eric is literally using you all as pawns.

Fjord was only half-painted, a little resin gaming miniature who had a long way left to go in life, but he was never going to let that stop him from having a good time! He gave a broad grin as his team was called out, and then said brightly, in an accent that was far more British than Texan, "Oh, brilliant! How I do love red!"

Someday maybe he'd even earn the red paint for the ropes in his sculpt, and wouldn't that day be wonderful?

Games! Oh what fun!

Don't take Tip's detached expression for disinterest, she was a fashion doll. Looking like she didn't care was a feature.

Mae clapped her squeaky paws ~~nervously~~ idly, looking around at the crowd.

This was sure a lot of toys. Loooots of people who could potentially notice that Mae knew she wasn't supposed to be fluff.

This was going to suuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

So now Shuri was a robotic panther wearing a t-shirt. Sure! Not at all weird this week! Let's have fun!

The very word "fun" was starting to make her eyeballs twitch.

Mae shot Shuri glances out of the side of her (giant, circular) eyes, then offered her a little wave.

Hi Shuri. You won't turn in your fellow black cat toy for being slightly less mindlessly enthusiastic than usual, would you?

Shuri nudged Mae with her nose. "Hello!" she said. "How has your week been?"

Super fun? Full of existential dread and silent screaming?

Both, if you considered existential dread and silent screaming fun!

Mae did not. (Despite how often she experienced it.)

Mae shrugged a little and gave a thumbs up. Because everything was supposed to be fine, so she would pretend to be fine, because nothing was real anyway so what the hell did it matter if she was dying inside?

"Me too," Shuri said. "So fun!"

She hated that word right now.

Nothing was ever allowed to be fun again.

Mae looked at her tshirt, and then at Shuri's tshirt. They weren't even on the same team. She huffed a little, voiceless sigh and reached out to tag Shuri (squeak).

You're it?

Oh boy, Games!

Sabine was very excited for this, and she liked green. This had all the makings of a good day!

Well, duh! Of course Summer was, like, so here for this! Mandatory fun was the best kind of fun!

She also wanted to do what she could to sort of spread the word about the Tea Party location change if she could, but also just keep an eye out in general for people she'd need to be cautious of and who was starting to seem more like themselves again.

You know. Typical Island-Brainwashed-By-A-Weird-Toy-Psychopath stuff.

"Ohmygosh," she gushed, "and red is my favorite color, too!"

Yes, she was going to say that no matter what color she got, but, really, red wasn't half bad.

Shunsui had actually spent most of his time since yesterday in the Toybox, since it wasn't exactly easy to cover for the fact that he'd gone and lost his hat again. But they let him out for the activity today, thanks to his blistering charm and a promise not to lose it again.

Which shouldn't be a problem, considering it was now superglued to his head.

Of course, there was the issue of the fact that he'd gone and lost one of his swords that morning. But that shouldn't be as much of a problem, right? He even had two of them! He doubted anyone would even noti--

--two swords. He'd lost two swords, apparently, that morning, he was just now discovering.

Whoops?

But at least he had his hat!

See, now, something around here just wasn't quite adding up, and Amaya'd always thought she was pretty good at math. But as she found herself looking forward to the Wednesday activity if only because it gave her another break from work--that in itself sounded wrong, though she knew it was because that Blacksmith Action Arm^TM literally would not quit--there was the whole ordeal with all that...hugging yesterday, and then just the fact that here she was, preaching how weapons were bad in her classroom, and yet doing nothing but pretending to make weapons outside of her classroom! Now, what kind of sense did that make?

None, that's what kind of sense! So Amaya had been doing an awful lot of thinking, trying to piece together this whole thing with everyone needing to be happy and having fun, and, truth be told, she wasn't getting very far.

But the Wednesday activities (for her, anyway) always had been fun, so she was hoping to not only check off that box (since it was apparently required), but also maybe sort of get the rest of it worked out with seeing how everyone else was doing or acting differently and what have you...

Wayne was probably testing Fate by bein' here today, be ause Wayne had driven himself so crazy with not being able to fold his arms that he figured out what was going on much earlier than expected, and it had driven him a little crazy, because he was supposed to be pretending to be having fun, but how was he supposed to be having any fun at all when he couldn't even cross his arms???

And Wayne had always been terrible at pretending to be having fun when he wasn't. Because lying was wrong and dishonest and he wasn't neither of those things!

But he supposed he'd try. Didn't have much choice in the matter, now, did he?

Fuck a duck, he wasn't going to even see the end of the day, now, was he?

For every one there at the park today absolutely hating everything about this, Prompto was making up for it tenfold with his sheer, pure, and honestly genuine exuberance.

"Ohhhhhhhh, baby!" he said, laughing. "Team Yellow! Oh, we have got this! Yellow is, like, totally my jam, you guys! This. Is. Going. To. Be. AWESOME!!"

He could even still bounce, you guys! Because his build was awesome with incredibly detailed joints! YEAHHHHH!

Oooh, board games! The potato was right! Board games were so much fun, and they were excellent for team building and having a good time, and Astrid was excited and determined to make the most of it.

And, just as important, making sure everyone else was having fun and teambuilding and being excited for it, too.

Sidon had actually been looking forward to the Wednesday activity immensely today. Between not having Vette around to shower with affection and the terrible, decidedly Not Good Toy urge to go jumping into the ocean for a soggy-making swim, he was eager for any distraction to keep his mind firmly on fun and happiness!

Just don't mind him longingly looking toward the ducks in the pond and their terribly fortunate plastic state!

Detective Ballerina Diaz, reporting for Fun Duty! It was a thought that made Rosa sort of want to stab herself in her big, bright eyes, but she was smiling through it all the same. Look. She was the best actor the Nine-Nine had; she was such a good actor that everyone thought she was actually bad, because that's how good she was. So this was a cinch. She was dying inside, but it was a cinch.

And, hey, to make her feel even better, there she was, on the best team, too. Explody Boy, Fish Boy, and Vandal Girl....who Rosa was pretty sure didn't even go to this school anymore, but, honestly, that was hardly the weirdest thing going on today.

"Okay, team!" she said brightly, throwing in a piroette for good measure, with a pose at the end and everything! "Let's have a really good time."

Playing one of the worst games ever.

"Meep meep!" Beaker said, only now really starting to realize that everyone...kinda looked like him this week?

He was taking notes! For Science! Not the other guy!

"That's the spirit!" said Sidon, who had no idea what Beaker said, but, obviously, it had to have been something good and encouraging, and even if it wasn't, well, it was now! He laughed, pumping one fist, and then both, in his excitement. "Team Blue will bring the most pleasant and thrilling experience for teammates and opponants alike!"

"I am loving this enthusiasm so much!" gushed Astrid, her hands neatly folded to her chest, which was overflowing with pride over the fact that her team was clearly a great team filled with other fellow Good Toys, and she truly couldn't be happier.

SO MUCH FUN. Eric, for the maximum amount of fun, of course, is making sure that everyone is sliding into everyone else as much as possible, and going back to Start repeatedly. The game will last just this side of forever and everyone will very definitely NOT BE FRUSTRATED because that wouldn't be fun!

[OOC: This game is MADE for frustration. Mod the number of times your player gets hit, how many times you go back to the beginning, etc., etc. Playing out the game isn't really the point, getting people super annoyed is. RNG says that the game eventually ends with Team Green winning, followed by Blue, Yellow, and Red!]

"It really is fun getting hit this much!" Rey said, definitely not through clenched teeth, and definitely having fun, definitely not lying.

She was not getting anywhere in this game. Literally. She kept going back to start.

Paris slammed into her from the back. "Sorry," she singsonged.

She wasn't sorry. No one was sorry in this game. "Guess you go back to start again!"

"That was just what I wanted, yay," Rey said, going right the hell back to start.

Whoever came up with this game was terrible. People did this for fun?

If Beaker ended up back at start one. more. time, he might actually explode in frustration.

He meant fun. Explode with the fun of it all!

That will be fun!

True story: our family has never once finished a game of Sorry. Someone has always stomped off first.

This was one of our favorite games at our grandma's house (are we evil? Is my family all evil for loving this game?), and there was one "Go back 4 spaces" card that had grease marks on it, so everyone knew when it was coming up, and I will always think of that grease-marked card when I think of this game.

I used to kill at this game at after-school/camp day care. I was also very into card games that involved slapping people. I think some games are just made sadistic on purpose.

Did anyone else used to land on someone else's piece and knock them off the board so hard they went flying into the ether somewhere while looking that sibling (hi Nick) dead in the eye and saying "SORRY"?

LOL the fights that resulted from actions like that are the reason my mom banned this game from our house.
