Sparkly Destruction - Arts & Crafts That You Can Use, Thursday 3rd Period

Today, the glitter was back, but this time it was a rainbow of glitter.

Because of course it was.

"I really like this week, you know?" Magnus said, faintly dusted with blues, pinks, and purples.

"That makes one of us." Look, glitter was really hard to clean off leather. Cara cleared her throat. "Someone replaced all our supplies with brightly coloured fabric."

"So, it's either a fashion montage or making banners for battle." He looked super torn between the two options. "Because a good outfit can be the best for a fight. But a banner is just cool."

"Some people find glitter flags a good way of showing support, just ask the squirrels." Don't ask the squirrels unless you wanted to discover just how annoying conversationalists they were.

"So, let's make a flag and maaaybe. If we have the time. Fashion montage." Taako would be so proud of him.

"Hope you all know how to sew." Because Cara sure as hell wasn't going to be any help.

"You're not going to have any shirts left by the end of the summer, are you."

Wayne seemed, at first, only capable of responding to that with a deep, deep frown and a rumbling growl in the back of his throat to match. Mae wasn't wrong; he was going through shirts at an alarming rate at this point, which was saying a lot, considering he bought these in bulk.

And he also realized that, if Mae was prompted to comment on the whole sad affair of his swiftly dwindling flannel, he hadn't been doing nearly as good a job of keeping away from the stuff as he thought. So he looked down to check...and then threw his head right back as the glitter across his chest caught the light just right and nearly blinded him.

"Ah, fuck."

"You know what you need?" Mae said thoughtfully. "A smock."

Rock that grade school art class look, Wayne!

"....you know what?" said Wayne, after a moment, head turning toward Mae with an appreciative squint on his face. "A smock...is a great idea."

And that's how you knew Wayne was new, thinking something like a smock could ever save him...from the glitter.

It would at least maybe cut down on the glitter?

Yeah, Mae hadn't been here that long, either.

"That's a very glittery flag you're making," she observed. "I take it it's not for you?"

Wayne didn't strike her as a glittery flag person. What with his wild aversion to glitter on his person and all.

It burned, Mae. It burned.

"S'fer my sister Katy," Wayne explained, which meant adding maybe a bit more glitter with the...utmost caution and determination.

Mae looked at the banner again, impressed. "You must really like your sister."

Because he seemed to really hate glitter.

And that was a Texas-sized 10-4.

"S'nothing more important than family," Wayne stated, like it was a cold hard fact the was a little surprised he even needed to say; it was like saying that people needed to breathe, really. "And big brothers look after their little sisters."

And Wayne was nothing but a big, squishy (often fighty, currently glittery) marshmallow on all things Katy.
