Detention! Saturday morning, Ass O'Clock

Diiiiiid Anakin feel the slightest bit bad about exposing students to all of this radiation as they stood outside to un-decorate the school bus?

Well, maybe a slight, slight bit, but he wouldn't admit it. He'd say they shouldn't have defaced a piece of school property during a nuclear winter.

But he had handed out breathing masks!

...Okay, Stormtrooper helmets.

And even modified one for Vette! Wow, what a guy. It almost made up for the fact that he'd put a strict "no powers allowed" rule in place as the three students (and Kanan) were forced to de-floaty the bus--and then clean it and repaint it, in case the duct tape ruined the finish--using nothing more than soapy water, toothbrushes, toothpicks and the smallest paintbrushes Anakin could find that would still hold bus paint correctly.

Hope you didn't have anything else planned for the days, guys.

"No," Anakin said. "Juliet and Christopher live with my wife and I in Georgetown. Luke and Leia are grown and back in their home galaxy."

She blinked.

Then, in absolute defiance of how unsafe it likely was to do so, she leaned over the the top of the bus to look down at him.

"Wow," she said, "you either got started young or, like, you look really good for your age!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

What were his secrets?

Anakin opened his mouth and closed it again. Open. Close.

"Time worked slightly differently for me when I was home," he said. "Luke and Leia are twins I had with my first wife, who passed away. Juliet and Christopher are my children with my current wife, Rory."

Nina's smile faded.

"My condolences on your first wife's passing," she said earnestly. "I'm sorry if my asking brought up painful memories."

Anakin smiled back. "It's alright. She died a long time ago, now."

He still looked for her at every picnic, just in case, though.

And finding out that that fact would just about break Nina's gentle heart. So romantic! So tragic!

"Still, I'm like, sorry," she said, still terribly, terribly earnest. "I shouldn't have been so thoughtless!!!!!!!"

"Really, it's fine," Anakin said, pushing a little reassurance into his words with the Force. "I have a life that I love right now, even if it is currently full of teenagers covering my bus in floaties."

She'd be more concerned about that reassurance but, really, Nina didn't know he could do that and, well, she was willing to be reassured in the first place.

Nina's smile came back, a little bashful, but not at all ashamed.

"We're just looking out for the bus!!!!!!!! And for you!!!!!!!! We wouldn't want your happy life to get boring!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

And, yup, that was Nina perking right up at that news.

"Does that, like, mean you met your wife here??????????????"

Maybe she wasn't doomed to be an old maiden, forever alone!

"Oh my gooooooooooosh," Nina said, beaming right on back. "That sounds so romantic!!!!!!!! Tell me about her??????????? You said her name is Rory??????????"

"Rory," Anakin said, nodding. "She's from Earth, which was very strange and exotic to me, and lived in a world that has no magic or space travel or anything that I was used to. We were friends almost from the beginning and started dating in secret about halfway through the year."

Ohhhh, Anakin, this story was right up Nina's alley.

"Because I'm a Jedi," Anakin said, "and the Order doesn't believe in attachment."

He got married twice, so...guess that didn't stick.

"So we kept it a secret until I had to go back to my home galaxy, and then I was forbidden from contacting her ever again."

"It did for a long time," Anakin admitted. "I moved on, met and married Padme--also in secret--and then the Jedi Order was destroyed."

Passive voice was doing a lot of heavy lifting there, Anakin.

"Many years passed and my son rescued me and brought me back to Fandom where I reconnected with Rory. It had only been months since I'd left, for her."
