Detention! Saturday morning, Ass O'Clock
Diiiiiid Anakin feel the slightest bit bad about exposing students to all of this radiation as they stood outside to un-decorate the school bus?
Well, maybe a slight, slight bit, but he wouldn't admit it. He'd say they shouldn't have defaced a piece of school property during a nuclear winter.
But he had handed out breathing masks!
...Okay, Stormtrooper helmets.
And even modified one for Vette! Wow, what a guy. It almost made up for the fact that he'd put a strict "no powers allowed" rule in place as the three students (and Kanan) were forced to de-floaty the bus--and then clean it and repaint it, in case the duct tape ruined the finish--using nothing more than soapy water, toothbrushes, toothpicks and the smallest paintbrushes Anakin could find that would still hold bus paint correctly.
Hope you didn't have anything else planned for the days, guys.

Re: Get to work!
So he scrubbed a square inch of the bus with this toothbrush a little as he tried to decide.
"It'll involve video games, though," he offered, which, really probably wouldn't surprise her anyway.
Aw, hell, he might as well spill at that point. "I was thinking just headsets at first," he said, scrubbing as he talked, "but that's not that exciting. What would be freaking sweet, though, would be rigging the inside visors up as a screen, and you can wire it up for, like, a completely, fully immersive flight simulator experience without even leaving the comfort of your own room! It shouldn't even be that hard to wire up, and with two of them, there's the option of having someone else join in, too! Rig up some vibration on the chairs, too, for when you get hit and fire and stuff! Oh, maaaaan!!"
His scrubbing, for what little it would do to ultimately help him, maybe got a little more determined, because the sooner they finished this, the sooner they could go, right?
Re: Get to work!
She frowned a little as she worked, trying to put together what Prompto was talking about.
"So............. like, it'd be like you're there when you're not really there?????????????"
Re: Get to work!
Which would be hilarious and great.
Re: Get to work!
How, Nina didn't know. But she'd figure it out!
Re: Get to work!
Re: Get to work!
"What, and give you ideas?!?!?!??!?!?!?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Re: Get to work!
Pause.
"And totally messing up your hair."
He didn't even want to see what it was doing to his right now, but it was totally worth it.
Re: Get to work!
"Why do you think I'm not wearing that helmet right now??????????"
Like. Really. Hair like hers took a lot of work to do!
Re: Get to work!
"I figured it was either that," he said, grinning (not that she could see it, but maybe she could hear it in his voice, despite the modulation), "or you were just feeling like a rebel, like you don't need to conform to the expectation of specially-distributed helmets."
So, yeah, definitely the hair thing.
"I guess you'll just have to come check out what I do whenever you have a bad hair day, Nina, so then you can just blame it on my stupid video game helmets and no one will be any wiser."
There was a....slight pause.
"Not that you'd ever have a bad hair day, of course."
Re: Get to work!
Which was both true and also rather ridiculous.
Nina had to laugh, at herself, for that.
"Unless, like, there's an emergency or something?????????????" And then he could see that her hair? Was actually straight. So straight. "Because, like, I guess there's probably more important things than my hair in that case??????????"
Maybe.
Re: Get to work!
"More important things than our gorgeous, luscious locks?" And, yes, that was Prompto running a hand over the smooth surface of the helmet as if it was not at all covering said gorgeous, luscious locks. "Nina! How dare you! You take that back!"
Re: Get to work!
Re: Get to work!
Re: Get to work!
Re: Get to work!
That last part was mostly intended to be muttered under his breath, but, well, the helmet didn't exactly seem to make a distinction between normal tones and grumblemutters.
Re: Get to work!
"Yes," she admitted, still giggling, and leaning dangerously over the side of the bus to look down at him. Nina was not super concerned about being safe here. And, gosh, but he looked silly in that helmet, didn't he?
Nina added meaningfully, "But, like, it just gives us more time to come up with future bus shenanigans.............."
And this detention wasns't really encouraging her to not want to indulge in future shenanigans either.
Re: Get to work!
The manual labor was super lame, and Prompto would be fiercely hating it by the end of the day, but right now, it was just stupid cleaning tasks made better in the company of his two best friends on this whole island, so, really, it was hardly a trial.
"Lots of time to think," he chuckled plottingly into his helmet. "We're going to totally have to have a jam session after this to compare notes on what we've come up with. And, who knows? Maybe with all this detailing we've got to do, we might find something interesting out that could be used to our advantage..."
Because, yeah, he was totally planning on scoping out all the possible specs for fun little tinkering or add-ons to the bus while he was getting all up there in its bizznass.
Re: Get to work!
The company was fantastic!
... Aside from the original grumpy bus driver, who she both wanted to talk to and was avoiding like the plague.
"It's so uuuuuunfaaaaaaaair!!!!!!!!!" she protested, scrubbing another bit of tape off. "Like, oh my gosh, you and Vette can just look at something like this and get it and I'm left going hang on let me check all the books for three weeks straight to get to the same point!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
That was, in fact, what happened when coming from a world very, very technologically behind, Nina.
"One day," and that did come out rather threateningly, "I'm going to catch up to both of you!!!!!!!!!!!"
She was already making good strides towards that, at least when it came to phones and hacking them.
Re: Get to work!
Re: Get to work!
She could take her hacking into whole new areas with that! FEAR HER. Eventually she was going to need a real computer to get serious about the whole hacking thing, but for now... for now she had enough going on.
"But, like, sometimes it feels like I'll never catch up anyway. I can learn one thing really well, but how do I learn everything that no one here even thinks about?????????"
Re: Get to work!
Re: Get to work!
Nina, no. No.
There was a reason Nina didn't use swords either.
"And, like, you'd think Iggy would learn not to do that to you, too," she mused, "but........ I don't know. It always feels like I'm so behind."
Re: Get to work!
Which was super true, don't even try to deny it.
"And you have a long way to go," he added, because that was true, too, and he didn't want it to seem like he was just saying what she'd want to hear by complimenting her. "But the fact that you've even managed to get this far is pretty amazing. And," his helmeted head tilted up almost warningly, "if you're still going to argue with me on this point, I am totally throwing this toothbrush at you."
Re: Get to work!
Maybe they were even right.
And if she was doing okay, she'd just have to push herself harder, catch up faster, and that way they wouldn't leave her behind. Right?
Re: Get to work!
And there was a toothbrush flying up toward the top of the bus, no where near actually hitting Nina, of course, despite the fact that it should be noted that Prompto was an excellent shot.
And he was a pretty good runner, too, which would be helpful as he went to sprint all the way over to the other side of the bus after that.
To hide.
And get another toothbruth.
