Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

As the picnic continued, there were tables and chairs arranged on the lawn, the food smelled delicious and inviting, and no one was going to be bitey without explicit consent. Hopefully, everyone would take some time to enjoy themselves!

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"Maybe I'll get back to that when I have more than 'no money'," Owen said, laughing only a little nervously. "Have I mentioned I appreciate the free food?"

"Free food is always available here," she assured him. "And, like, you'll have a place to sleep and get clean in the dorms, so that's also covered under free. If you want a job, though, a ton of places will be hiring, so you shouldn't have problems finding a place to work??????????"

"Just like that?" Sorry, Nina. Owen was... okay, his tone was a hint of skeptical, no more than that, but still. "Would you happen to have any suggestions as to where I should start? I mean-- do you have a job?"

"I have two, actually!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Though she, uh, wasn't really sure if she still had the one at the Magic Box after her and Norman's... conversation. But, whatever, she'd figure that out later. "I work at the Magic Box, it's a store that, like, sells things for spells and rituals and everything. And I also work at The Bookbelt, which is the book store!!!!!!!!!"

She eyed him thoughtfully.

"Like, I could actually, you know, offer you a job at The Bookbelt, if you wanted one??????????"

She was a co-owner.

"Selling books?" Owen said. On the one hand, it sounded a bit boring. On the other hand, he'd never done it before, which meant it would at least be interesting for a bit.

And money. Also money.

"I might need to get some glasses," he joked, "But I think I could handle being a handsome bookseller. Are there trials? I could ace those trials."

"The only trial is being nice to me," Nina said loftily, then grinned, "and you've, like, already passed that one!!!!!!!!!! So if you want it, you'd be a very dashing bookseller."

"Well, one, money," Owen mused, "Two, a new thing to do with my day. Three, an excuse to be nice to you some more in the future. How can I say no to any of that?"
