Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

As the picnic continued, there were tables and chairs arranged on the lawn, the food smelled delicious and inviting, and no one was going to be bitey without explicit consent. Hopefully, everyone would take some time to enjoy themselves!

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Ah, yes! The welcome picnic! There were many things about Fandom that Sidon enjoyed immensely, and the welcome picnic was right up there near the top of the list! It was always such a joy to see so many new faces, some of them just filled with baffled wonderment, others just as comfortable with their new situation as ever, and he loved every moment of it. New siblings, new friends, new semester! Marvelous!

And if anyone thought a few days as a starving, raving vampire would have done anything to alter Sidon's boisteriously cheerful demeanor for the picnic, well, then, that person clearly did not know Sidon!

So, helping himself to some little morsels of fish-related food and a few slices of pizza here and there and sporting some brand new scars that he wore with pride (most notably a small fist-sized chunk of flesh seemed to be missing from his headtail), he looked around the picnic brightly and eagerly in the search for new victims friends.

Well, there was something Shuri didn't see every day, but it would be rude to stare.

So she glanced. A few times.

Oh, not to worry, Shuri. All of those glances would not be in vain, because you were a new face, and Sidon would absolutely be on that.

"Hello!" And at least those glances would prepare her for the very large Zora incoming with eager, opening, welcoming arms. "You must be one of the new students! Greetings! And welcome to Fandom High! I am Sidon!" Here came the excited pump of his fist, the eager pose, the bright shining grin that caught in the light just right. "The Zora Prince! And who might you be?"

Shuri was Wakandan, so she appreciated a bit of pageantry. "I'm Shuri," she said. "Of Wakanda. Where is Zora? Is it another planet?"

Please, please, please be another planet. That would be so cool.

"Zora's Domain is not another planet," Sidon started, but he gained a bit more of a grin as he finished with, "but Hyrule is, and that is where Zora's Domain lies! I am afraid, however, that I have not heard of Wakanda, though, Shuri of Wakanda. Is that another planet?"

"No," Shuri said, looking a bit disappointed to admit to it. "It's a country in Africa. But it's very nice?"

"Oh, Africa!" Sidon still didn't know a whole lot about this world, but he knew at least the main continents...mostly in relation to the oceans, though, if he was honest. "So then that's Earth! Wonderful! I have yet to visit there, though I've had the opportunity to visit a handful of places on this vast and marvelous planet through the school trips! Perhaps we may head that way one of these semesters, though I suppose it wouldn't be as exciting for yourself if you're from there. Or perhaps it would be! You would surely be a most excellent guide and be able to show us all the most interesting things! Is there much water in Wakanda? I'm sure it may come as no surprise to you, but I must admit, I am a bit more partial to places with plenty of water."

"That doesn't come as a surprise to me," Shuri agreed merrily. "We have an entire River Tribe. I think Nakia--she's my brother's kind of girlfriend who's a member of the River Tribe--would love you. Do you mind if I take a picture to send to her?"

"I wouldn't mind in the slightest!" said Sidon, with as much bright enthusiasm as he could muster...which, for the record, was a lot. "As a matter of fact, I would be absolutely honored! I rather believe I would be fond of Nakia of the River Tribe, as well!"

He was, after all, fond of most people.

And without further ado, Sidon pumped a fist again, gave Shuri yet another bright and winning smile, holding the pose dramatically for her to capture herself a truly stunning photograph.

Shuri took several photos and sent them to Nakia, who wrote back a string of exclamation points, then a photo of herself...somewhere...waving back.

"Told you that she'd like you," she said, holding the phone up.

"I didn't doubt it for a moment," Sidon declared, absolutely delighted and waving back to Nakia. Yes, he realized it was just a picture; he was just a little caught up in the moment. "How fantastic! Of course, I hope you realize, Shuri, that this simply means that one day, you shall have to introduce me to your friend. She must be absolutely wonderful!"

She wasn't a new friend but, now and again, Nina looked up and smiled just to... watch him, from where she was sitting. The new scars bothered her--a lot--but mostly just was just glad he was there, alive, and well enough to be himself at the picnic.

That mattered to her.

Now, Nina. You couldn't possibly to have expected Sidon to not notice a smile like that directed his way! So, returning that smile at one point with a bright one of his own, he made his way over. The welcome picnic was wonderful for new friends, but it was also excellent for old ones, too.

"Nina!" he greeted her brightly with a thrilled opening gesture of his arms. "Hello! I trust you're having an incredible picnic thus far?"

"Hi, Sidon!!!!!!!!!!!!!" she said, with a smile that was a bit brighter than normal--with relief, truly. "It's been, like, pretty great!!!!! I have a new sibling, have you met them???????????? His name is Okuyasu!!!!!!!!!!"

"I have not yet had the pleasure, no!" said Sidon. "I shall certainly have to rectify as swiftly as possible. Surely, with you as a sibling, he's sure to be steadily on the right track! I also have collected another sibling. His name is Billy Batson! Isn't that a fantastic name? Have you had the chance to meet him, perhaps?"

"I have not yet, but I will make it a point to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Nina beamed up at him. "After all, in a strange way, he's also my brother isn't he??????????????"

It was a weird and convoluted family tree, but it amused her.

"I have, however, met both Shuri and Owen and they're both quite lovely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Owen's here on an adventure, isn't that grand???????????"

"And the same goes with your Okuyasu!" said Sidon, delighted. "Our Fandom family continues to grow, Nina! And I have met Shuri, she's absolutely wonderful and I've already had a chance to become accainted with her friend, Nakia of the River Tribe, as well!"

No, he hadn't. Shuri took a picture and sent it to Nakia, and Nakia sent a picture back. But, for Sidon, that was close enough!

"Were you able to deduce much about this grand quest of your new friend Owen's? Naturally, such a thing must be terribly exciting. When I happen to get the chance to meet him, I'll have to make sure to see if there's anything we can do to assist him!"

It would also be close enough for Nina, so they were really, perfectly suited in their mad enthusiasm!

"I will most definitely have to ask her if I can have the honour of meeting her Nakia as well!!!!!!!!!!!! And like, oh my gosh, I didn't even think about asking if we could help!!!!!!!!!!!!! How terrible and rude of me, when he was telling me about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He did ask if we had been on any adventures, however, and I told him of our most recent foray in my world, so he knows that we're capable of helping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
