Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

So this week had been... less than great overall, but everyone in town was okay again (as okay as they ever were, at least) and now there were new people to welcome to the island! Thankfully, the weather was warm and sunny, perfect for anyone who wanted to take part in some shirtless shenanigans, and the front lawn of the school was all set up for yet another tasty picnic. There were tables of blank name tags, lists of information, and enough food to probably feed two Fandoms. Time to be welcoming!

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"That's me," Amaya confirmed with a nod, pumping a small fist in the air. Very small; she'd always found the strength in her arms to be a point of pride, especially as a blacksmith, because that was kind of important in a trade like that, but, boy, if she wasn't all sorts of sore from spending the better part of two days restlessly trying to tear down metal bars. "Good to meet you. Looks like I've been tasked with helping to show you the ropes around here a little, if you need it Answer any questions you may have, help you get setled in, things like that. Don't suppose you happened to randomly wash up on the shore on one of the beaches around here, did you?"

"No, I drove across the causeway," she said, and offered. "I'm not exactly new here."

"Ah, good," said Amaya, "so it's not back to that trend."

Amaya, it had been two people in a row, that didn't make a trend, although it was a little bit of a head trip for her to realize that there'd been enough for there to be two people in a row as well as two people after that to prove that it wasn't just a thing that happened with your teaching buddies.

"But my last one hadn't exactly been brand new, either," she noted thoughtfully, and should probably just stop looking for trends. "Which makes my job a whole lot easier, really. So I take it you're pretty caught up on all the weirdness and the place being sort of a crossroads of different places and worlds and not to get all tangled up with any gremlins and all that good stuff?"

"I actually taught a class on it once," Aeryn said, faintly amused. "I was once a student here. Came back to teach once or twice."

"So odds are," said Amaya, looking faintly amused herself despite feeling almost a little disappointed, "you're actualyl the one who could probably teach me a thing or two, even long as I've been here. Which means I haven't got much of a job to do here, really, or at least my work's already done."

And that was the disappointing part. She was looking forward to being a bit useful today.
