Adulting 101- Monday- 2nd period

Kitty had been here long enough to know what was up today, and that also meant she had to scrap her class idea because she knew people wouldn't be paying attention.

"Good morning, the island is messing with us again," Kitty greeted everyone when they got to the classroom. "If you're having all these weird feelings and can't focus, you're not the only one, and because of that, you get to have a quick and dirty sex ed talk." Sure, she got pregnant last year by accident, but still! Also she probably shouldn't have used that phrasing. Anyway here, she had handouts to give you all. "Sex is totally natural and nothing to be embarrassed about, but it is something you should be really careful about. This is info on the different types of birth control. At your age, girls might already be on the pill, and everyone should be using condoms, every time, to protect against sexually transmitted infections. You can grab some for free on your way out, or get them at the clinic, or they're cheap at the store. You should still be using birth control even for oral sex. Remember that if you are going to be doing anything, make sure to get enthusiastic consent. If they're not into it, if they tell you no, or stop for any reason, that's it. Done. And don't feel pressured to do anything. Your body's going to do enough of that as it is. If you don't want to, that's totally fine."

And then Kitty went behind her desk, and pulled up the carrier she'd had on the floor, setting it on the desk. "And to drive home the fact that these things have consequences, meet my baby. This is Lexi. She's five months old next week. She's learning to sit up and roll over and she might mimic you a little. You're also going to watch her for the rest of the class period. Everything you might need should be in the diaper bag. All you have to do is get her to the end of class without breaking her. Have fun with that."

Totally unplanned, as soon as Kitty headed into the hall, Lexi started crying. Step up, kids.

Although she had yet to deveope a very strong proclivity for it herself, Astrid's life was one that was always filled with a sort of wild sensuality from the sheer physical force that was her mother, gliding like full moon through a sky filled with sexual conquests. Countless nights of falling asleep to the sounds of her mother's breathy, uninhibited lovemaking in the next room.

So this sort of thing really shouldn't be bothering Astrid. She'd gotten variation of these lectures many times before (though always with Ingrid's most tantamount rule for sexual liasons being emphasised, a rule that Ms. Pryde-Barton was clearly not including: never let a man spend the night, a rule that Ingrid herself occasionally forgot about). But it kind of was. Maybe it was because it was so basic, so to-the-point, so utterly devoid of anything that existed in the amorphous, emphemeral cloud of sensuality that Ingrid cultivated and defined Astrid's perceptions thus far, that it wound up being so...

...um...

...effective? Either way, whatever it was, at least it was short, and Astrid just hoped that whatever was going on with her would pass just as quickly. She understood that it was probably just being fifteen and hormones and that was it, but that understanding didn't make it any less uncomfortable.

Norman stared at the baby, and then looked forlornly toward the hallway. And then made his way over to the carrier to see if there was a bottle or a pacifier or something to offer to her.

"Uh... Hi, Lexi..."

Paying attention to the baby would be a great break from paying attention to how much he hated this exact week.

Astrid really didn't have much experience with babies, but she did possess a sort of staid natural ability to deal with them well that she'd never quite realized. Maybe it was just because she could handle a wriggling, tiny, fussing, crying child without being irritated or frustrated or annoyed, for the most part, so she was perfectly content to taking a turn holding Lexi for a little while, bouncing her a little and making soft, soothing kind of sounds at her in an effort to maybe calm her and quiet her until maybe someone else wanted to give it a try.

Bold move, though, teacher, she thought, leaving her baby in a classroom of kids that included Beaker.

Help I've been laughing at "she probably shouldn't have used that phrasing" for like three minutes now.
