A New You, Tuesday, Period Two

Today, the class would find the Danger Shop simulation set right back up in the middle of town.

"Well done," he said, grinning around at the students. "You defeated the demon, you've helped clear out the cave for the wyrmling with the tattered wing, and to top it off, now he's got some kobold roommates to help him out while his wing heals. As thanks, he let you each take a handful from his hoard."

Mmmmriches.

"And the Captain of the Guard still owes you payment for checking out the wyrmling situation, so once you catch up to her, it'll be a couple hundred gold in each of your pockets. Not half bad."

... Fjord wished he had a couple hundred gold in his pockets.

"Now you've got yourselves a bit of a reputation around here, the people who take care of problems." A glance at Jatila. "Who mostly take care of problems. Which means opportunities are starting to open up here in town. People want to give you work, if you're willing to take it. There's one in particular that seems promising- a ship's captain from a neighboring city is in port, and he's looking for some good, strong individuals to see to it that his ship and his cargo arrive safely at their destination. He's offering living quarters, food, and a solid wage to anybody who cares to join his crew. Go have a chat with him if you're interested, or make your own fun."

Seros wasn't so much as counting his treasure as he was counting up the different ways he could spend all his loot when he got the chance, because what was the point of loot if you couldn't just drop it all on some bright new shinies? Although he was rather enjoying his shiny amethyst. It was so fancy! Maybe a new purple color scheme makeover was in order for broody old Seros here. He could use a little makeover...

First things first! And Seros was going to try to be quick about the money thing, too, before anything (*cough*rogues*cough*) had a chance to muck things up a bit, prancing (and then remembering he was a brooding sorcerer who did not prance) over to the Captain of the Guard, and nearly flashed her his most charming grin before catching himself because Seros didn't do that either and, instead, lifted his chin loftily, and held out a hand.

"I believe a reward is in order."

Heh. Seros, you pompous dick, all you did was fling around some magic missles, but okay. It was a little difficult trying to maintain that cool sense of entitlement, though, when all Prompto wanted to do was then go bounce over to the other Captain and see what he might have in store for them and, most importantly, when, to see if he'd have enough time to fit in that fabulous makeover.

Purple robes, baby! That amethyst so needed to be on a staff. That probably wouldn't do anything much but it would look cool as hell.

Seros would have tossed his long beautiful hair over his shoulders, but he did put in a good roll of his eyes (fighting off internal giggles all the while) and stated, "I believe a reward is in order please."

Sorry, Captain. He was not bogged down by work yet in fine form today.

Keyleth Yelden

Re: Captains!

Right, right. Apparently she was supposed to be -- gulp -- the face of the party now? So maybe she should act like it since that was kind of what Keyleth was supposed to be learning more about anyway?

Oh boy.

Yelden took a deep breath, straightened her armor out a bit, and walked over toward the guard captain, trying to look serious and capable but maybe kind of approachable and not too intimidating at the same time.

"Is there --" A little bit high-pitched, so she cleared her throat and started over. "Is there anything else we can do to help you out? I hope the wyrmling situation has been resolved well enough, but if there's any additional cleanup that needs to be done I'd hate to leave that hanging. And I'm, uh . . . sorry about our rogue. Really."

A gentle underhanded toss that Seros was apparently not remotely dexterous enough for, because, though he tried to catch it and even managed to bounce it a little in his hands in the effort to keep it from falling, still fell to the ground with a (admittedly very satisfyingly heavy) jingle of coins. "Whoops," he said, chuckling and wondering if the disguise feature in the Danger Shop was turning his face as red as Seros as he knew it was as Prompto, before he swept down oh-so-dramatically (swirling all the robes) to pick it back up and remarked confidently, arrogantly, "I did that on purpose."

But before anyone could have the chance to argue, he turned (more flourishing robes; not enough flourishing; his new robes were going to have to have extra flourish), he tucked away the coins and moseyed his way on over to the other Captain and announced, "I have heard that perhaps you might be looking for a few good hands on your ship, my good sir. I'll admit, while I am lacking in particular strength," this, he felt, was very important to include as part of his This-Character-Is-Clearly-NOT-Prompto developement, because obviously, with those guns... "I am quite perceptive and a very good hand at magic, as you may have heard. I have a strong feeling that my companions will also be interested in helping as needed, but, if that is not the case, I assure you, I can deign to provide at the very least my own excellent services."

Seros's very un-Prompto-like confidence, apparently, was just inspired by him thinking about all the stupid dramatic shit he said to Nina half the time.

Hey, 31 gold was nothing to sneeze at when you were a low-level adventurer! Besides, the opal she'd gotten along with it looked pretty valuable, so Yelden wasn't complaining.

. . . oooh, the opal was pretty.

And would make a cursed d20 later on.

The topaz was rather pretty. Even if Jatila had only managed to get another 19 gold after the dragon had chased her out for trying to steal something shinier.

Jatila walked up to the captain of the guard somewhat smugly. After all, they'd done the thing she'd gotten instructions for.

"The wyrmling is happy and out of your way."

Jatila gave her a haughty look. "Without me, you wouldn't even know what needed to be done."

Who'd gotten you into this the job from the captain in the first place?

"We might have been able to get the job done with a lot less collateral damage if you hadn't pushed for leaving the kobolds at the mercy of the gnolls," Yelden shot back, never mind that she could have done more to stand up to Jatila in the first place.

"Well, I can't speak for everyone --" have another askance look, Jatila -- "but I'd be glad to help you out with that before we go, and some of the others might, too."

Which meant she'd have to maybe talk them into it, which . . . again, might as well practice.
